Reflective Essay About My Relational Experience
My childhood calling was always a strong desire to change the world. Although I now understand that I may not be able to do that on the scale I have always aspired to, I can do my best to make a difference when I am able to. Traveling to Guatemala is the once in a lifetime opportunity that will help me take one step closer to filling the void I have had since my childhood.

I think that this experience will bring upon many learning experiences that I did not even consider upon entering. I thoroughly enjoy relational practice, and I know that this opportunity will further advance areas of my relational practice that I am still not completely comfortable in. Being situated in a new environment will aid me in seeing and having a better

I am a quite outgoing and positive person, it is easy for me to spark conversation with someone, but also to sit and listen when they are in need. I think I need to challenge myself to dig deeper to understand the pathophysiology behind disease processes. I need to reflect more before giving a medication, or doing a skill and ask myself why I am doing it. I want to work on being more comfortable in my clinical skills. I have recognized that I will spend the rest of my life improving and learning things as a nurse, and there are always areas for growth. I hope to continue to grow and flourish all throughout my nursing

For instance, I am more musically skilled than the rest of my immediate family. I’ve always been in a choir in school and this year I was accepted into my school’s female audition ensemble, Treble Choir. This enabled me to meet many new girls and become friends with them from a common interest. Having this connection means so much to me because it makes us a family. Having this support system behind me helps me feel more comfortable with others and compels me to interact with them…

Being in the medical field for the past ten years, I have seen the growth and changes in the medical field. When I began my nursing career as a medical assistant, I noticed many other nurses continuing their education to be able to have greater hands on approach in nursing. This opened my eyes to the endless possibilities that a nurse can do, whether it’s with direct patient care or being a resource to patients and other nurses around. After completing my RN in May of 2015, I decided that I really enjoyed being a mentor and teacher to other nurses. That is why I am continuing on with my education in hopes to one day receive my Master’s degree in Nursing and be able to utilize the knowledge and skills that I build, to educate patients. I still…

I like to believe that there are an array of factors and values that I have encompassed throughout my life that have played a role in forming my personal philosophy of nursing. I have always viewed myself as a kind and compassionate individual who enjoys helping others. As I have previously mentioned, my mother has been an oncology nurse for my entire life. I view her as one of, if not the main influential aspects in deciding upon my career. When I was younger I always enjoyed hearing her stories or reading her letters from patients about how helpful and caring she had been. She always came home with a smile on her face and would say that even after the most stressful day, knowing that she was able to make a difference in someone else’s life, is what kept her going. I have used that as a fuel in my own career. I made it one of…
