Out of all the essays I thought that the third was the easiest to read and get through because Henry Friedlander, in my opinion, used a better variety of sentence lengths and broke his paragraphs up into smaller chunks which made the article way easier for me to read. To be honest I just was not a fan of Weiss’ writing style, his word choice and vocabulary was extremely dry and I did not feel particularly interested in his topic which made the material extremely hard to read and focus on. While his word choice was fairly dry I did enjoy that his vocabulary was simple enough for me to comprehend the first time reading through the essay. I also enjoyed the Weiss’ point that we need to stop believing that “without Hitler, no Holocaust” because it was an idea that I had never given much effort in thinking about.
As for the main points and origination of the Holocaust in each essay, I am not entirely sure whether or not I would have been able to understand these without the help of Niewyk’s editing. Niewyk definitely saved my life in terms of understanding where these articles were going to take me, I am hoping that me not completely understanding the articles on my own was simply due to the fact that I need to readjust my reading habits to the more complex writing styles that will be featured throughout The
