However, the novelty of this university wore off quickly. I became disenchanted by its distance from home and the fact that the social work program was not what I had hoped. Though I excelled in my classes and became heavily involved in campus life, I realized that I did not seem to "fit" in the university's social climate or in my major. The social work department's focus on "micro," or individual, social work practice did not fulfill my aspirations to become a lobbyist. I am no longer that superstitious girl who wishes instead of works, nor am I even a social work major. I am an assertive young women who will major in political science. I am hoping to interact with individuals from all over the globe, network with potential employers and professors, and maintain my 3.9 grade-point average while being a well-rounded student. Furthermore, if I am in Washington, D.C., I will receive ample relevant internship opportunities that will prepare me for my future
