Reflective Essay: Improving My Writing

In fourth grade I first became aware that my pencil grip was abnormal in comparison to other students in my classroom. I had never known of how much of an effect holding a pencil had on the appearance of my writing during that time. Many of my peers had trouble deciphering my chicken scratch of handwriting. Sometimes, even I could not figure out what I had written. The entire problem with my handwriting stemmed from how I held the writing implement. So much as attempting to hold them in a normal way led me to quite a bit of physical discomfort and unnecessary tears. Regardless of how nice I tried to make each letter appear, it never looked quite as clear as I had hoped. Giving up on my practice in improving my handwriting was not really an option during that time under the constant pressure of adults telling me that it was unreadable. For something that I had once thought was nearly impossible to mend, has proven to me that I am capable of bigger and better things. Admittedly I do not have perfect handwriting, but I feel as though the most important thing for me is that I have been fortunate enough to acquire a different perspective on the troubles that society we may endure. Even such a miniscule subject matter as handwriting in my eyes has fundamentally allowed me to discern much of what life is. With the pot holes in the uneven roads of life as predicaments that I or anyone else may experience is very much nothing short of unnecessary worries compared to the unforeseen future.
