Reflective Essay: My Community Service Experience
Community Service

My community service experience took place in my local area in Sylmar. I was volunteering at Angels of the Valley, which is a facility that they take care of seniors and patients. I assisted the administrator, she showed me a lot of things and explained what is her role in her job. I found this very interesting. I believe that community service and volunteerism like this are very important. By spending your free time helping others in their community, you can experience and learn new things like what I did in this facility by preparing and giving the patients right of medicine, cooking food for them, and supervise the whole facility.

The very first thing that I learned in my community service is giving the patients the right of medicine on time. What

On my experience, the administrator explained everything to me that her role is kind of hard to handle because all she needs to do is to make sure that the workers in the facility are doing their job right. I learned that as an administrator, you have to be multi-task with ease. Also, as an administrator, you’ll be expected to turn your hand to job such as sorting out the post, answering the phone calls, ordering supplies, greeting clients, typing, filing, and etc.

Lastly, being part of this community service it is a great opportunity to become active in community. It allows me to grow and apply what I learned. I found this so important because volunteering in community can also give you ideas and learn a lot of different things. On my opinion, volunteers could gain professional experience and could test out the career. Based on my experienced, even I spend a little much time to do my community service, I enjoyed volunteering in the facility. Those hidden talents that I never knew, I used it to experience new and discovered a lot of

Volunteering has always been an important aspect of my life. Whether donating food or painting a house, it has allowed me to be extremely grateful and humble for my lifestyle because everybody is not as blessed as I am. Volunteering has taught me that even the smallest gift, such as a smile, can be a great gift to someone because it can show that you care and want to be involved. It has allowed me to develop soft skills, and learn more about myself and my HBCU community. One of my greatest accomplishment in life was that I volunteered 1,000 hours in high school.…

I volunteer in my community whenever I get the opportunity. For example, I helped students get to school safely and I helped out around the school. I volunteered at the public library to help younger children. I now see it is hard work to get children focused and help them not make a big mess, but I enjoyed helping them in any way I can. Volunteering at the public library also taught me about patience. Not everything went exactly how I planned it out, but at the end it still worked out. My time at the library also taught me about effort.…

This is Tammy Ngo, and I know that you are very busy and have a lot of things on your plate but I have been inquiring about my badge for the last one and a half week without result. I had tried to attend to this matter in a timely matter in order to reduce the trouble it might cause everyone. I do admit that it was initially my fault in losing the badge and missing my shift on 1/16 (the day after I lost my badge and found it missing). I had tried my best to reach you through emails and phone calls to the volunteer office when on 1/19, you told me that my badge would be ready for me in front of the office by Saturday; which was the day of my next shift. Since I was expecting my badge by my next shift, I did not reschedule any of my future shift on the assumption that the matter will be resolved.…

Whether it was volunteering or donating or even taking a survey to give my perspective, as long as it was helping someone and making a difference- I always enjoyed it. So going into high school year, I took the initiative of volunteering. Volunteering at the Yale Hospital since high school for four years truly changed me as a person by helping me grow as a better leader. I came out of my comfort zone and the program gave me an opportunity to experiment and try new things. It taught me responsibility, working skills, how to interact with patients, staff, and visitors of the hospital. I was lucky enough to work at different sectors of the hospitals and familiarize myself with the hospital setting. In this process, I learned…

Here are some examples of my service to my community. During my 8th grade year in Elena Christian Jr. High School, both my classmates and I, we decided to do a beach cleanup. We chose the beach across from Water Gut. It was a wonderful experience because I was able to help out my community in a positive way. I volunteer and participate with the Junior Meteorology Club of Elena L. Christian Junior High School. I help with certain fundraisers such as; bake sales, car washes and collecting donations. I like to be there for people who are in need because it shows people that I am a caring and loving person. I also volunteered at the Agriculture Fair of 2010.
