Look inside yourself and see what you've discovered during this clinical experience and what it will mean to your future professional nursing practice. Share with your peers a "memorable moment" you experienced this term that somehow changed you. It can be a funny moment, an inspiring moment, an educational moment, or just a personal growth moment. While riding on the bus, I met a homeless man. I thought about how he has to humble himself on a daily basis; how he came to this point in his life and where his future lead. How he has to adjust his daily hoping it is not too cold or rainy. I will remember my bus ride and think about how to help the homeless people. I will be more active to attend volunteer activities in communities and also think about what if anything I can do that will make a positive impact on the homeless

I believe it is my responsibility to provide the patients with adequate information regarding the objectives, alternatives, and possible outcomes and risks of a proposed treatment. This will enable the patient to make a voluntary decision about accepting or declining care. I will respect the decision made by the patient on whether or not to perform the medical procedure. Patients should be treated “consistently with compassion even under stressful circumstances” (Morrison, 2016, p. 60).…

Being in the medical field for the past ten years, I have seen the growth and changes in the medical field. When I began my nursing career as a medical assistant, I noticed many other nurses continuing their education to be able to have greater hands on approach in nursing. This opened my eyes to the endless possibilities that a nurse can do, whether it’s with direct patient care or being a resource to patients and other nurses around. After completing my RN in May of 2015, I decided that I really enjoyed being a mentor and teacher to other nurses. That is why I am continuing on with my education in hopes to one day receive my Master’s degree in Nursing and be able to utilize the knowledge and skills that I build, to educate patients. I still…

Working in multidisciplinary settings where the client’s goals are fundamental also allows the team members to safely trial the limits of traditional roles and accountabilities to encompass the wants of the client. Incorporating Emily and family into the team embodies a certain challenge that involves careful planning. Emily and her family are distinctive members of the team in numerous ways. Firstly, Emily and her family do not have any formal training within health care. Therefore their input regarding care issues helps formulate a detailed care plan surrounding their concerns and fears with Emily. Secondly, educating and involving Emily’s family as much as possible enforces the idea that the care they provide to Emily is just as important as actions carried out by other health professionals. Finally, just as health professionals must acclimate to numerous patients they meet, so must the clients learn to acclimate…

The community I grew up in deep in the heart of Austin, Texas celebrated my heritage, honored differences in culture, and fostered personal growth and self-discovery. My parents, with the strong work ethic they developed on their family’s farms in Ghana, encouraged my brother and me to work hard and find ways to use my skills to be of service to others. My experiences engaging with the communities that I have lived inspire me to become a physician dedicated to finding the most effective ways to communicate with my patients and improve their health outcomes in different types of environments. I first worked in health care locally during the summer after my sophomore year of college when I volunteered at the People’s Community Clinic. It was there that I got my first look at direct health interventions through making health education materials in the…

The aim of this essay is to reflect what had happen during my placement and this gives me opportunity to improve my nursing care plan, which is based on the patient’s initial valuation. David Kolb,1984 said in his book called " Experiental Learning: Experience as a Source Of Learning and Development,(Kolb, 1984)'' that reflection is a way in which we examine our experiences and draw lessons from them. QIA Key Skills Support Programme(2007) added that reflection can help to bridge the gap between theory and practice and enable us to look critically at our own behaviour, the behaviour of other people and at the organizational and social context within which we operate. In my context with my event, it is important for me to improve my nurse-patient relationship in terms of communication.…

I believe a patient has the right to autonomy and should be treated as individuals with everyone receiving the best care available. Although most individuals have some of the same basic needs, everyone is different and requires different levels of care and education. I believe the patient’s health and recovery depends on their beliefs, mindset, and support system. Families should also be educated to the patient’s needs and requirements to maintain health and…

During the second half of the semester I showed strengths by recognizing my own limits and seeking assistance/guidance, seeking out opportunities, reflecting on my own nursing practice and keeping open communication with my instructor and RN. During one of my shifts, I worked with client who wanted to change but was hooked up to a VAC. I recognized that I wasn’t educated on VACs, and was unsure as to whether I could unplug it so she could change. I sought out a RN and charge nurse to help me figure out how to do this. After being guided through the process of what to do, I was able to help the client change. I have also taken the opportunity to reflect on my own nursing practice through my RPN’s. My RPN’s have showed a thorough analysis of my feelings and questions that arise throughout my shifts. In addition, I always make sure to stay in touch with my client’s nurse and my instructor throughout my shift. I chart off at the end of each shift and give report to the nurse. I also took an opportunity to empty a Blake drain on a client who was not my own. I had the RN guide me through it, as it was my first time performing this task.…
