Leonard Cooper Charter School is a K-12 school with approximately 1,000 students. The school wants to develop a local area network that meets the needs of the school now and is scalable for the future. There have been numerous complaints about the speed and reliability of the network, especially since a new addition to the building was added a few years back.…

“All children are capable of success no matter what” is the main statement of the chapter nineteen. Your children are the future of the successful nation. Adult needs to acknowledge that acceptance is only the way to bring change in the future. This chapter is about the Anne Fox Elementary School. It has become example in the society. They went from worst academically performing school to second top performing school just in few years. They changed their basic motto and start to belief. They hoped that continue practices will lead to improved student achievement in a school culture that heightens performance by building hope, optimism, and resiliency in youth. (Miller, 2012)…

Ms. Wright feels her principal has the same expectations as that of a campus administrator on a traditional campus. However, an area that Ms. Wright feels her principal does not fully understand is the at risk student and the differences or challenges that teachers need to make to get the students to let their guard down, so teachers can properly serve them. Ms. Wright points out that her principal is an experienced principal, but this is his first year leading an alternative campus. The principal shows love and concern for the students but does not understand the different challenges that at risk student face on a daily basis. When you work on an alternative campus, Ms. Wright understands that not everything is as simple as black and white. Each student and their problems are unique and Ms. Wright does not feel her principal fully grasps that concept. Ms. Wright feels strong about creating relationships with her kids because in her eyes, it is the only way to reach students on an alternative campus. Furthermore, according to Ms. Wright, the students at Shannon need to know that you care about…
I will display this mission statement on my locker door, next to my desk so I will have an easy access to it, especially during times when I may become frustrated and feel like giving up on a student who may be failing my class and do not seem to care. It will remind me that my purpose is to serve and motivate others to reach their full potential. As Lee Canter explained in the video ‘ The Power of belief ‘, a high performing teacher never gives up because “they believe that all children can succeed”(Laureate Education, 2010). It is this kind of teacher who can make a difference in the lives of the…
As a soon to be Chicago Public Schools alum, in my lifetime I have experienced school budget cuts, teacher displacements, and two teacher strikes. I have always believed that education is the key to success and extended opportunities, but for the past two years, the optimism that I have always had has slowly started to deteriorate. Everyday when I view the news, it seems that my education is being attacked. Whether it is on a federal, state, or city level. Recently, I just learned that the Trump administration is planning to make significant budget cuts to the Pell Grant program; the state of Illinois seems to also be doomed. Because the state has no budget, funding for the MAP Grant program is tentative. As far as the city, it seems that Chicago has the power to invest in every project except public education.…
I still can recall the feeling of pure unadulterated fear, and even thinking about it now gives me that sense of dread that has become all too familiar. Every first day was slightly different, but they all had the same effect on me, the uncomfortable feeling of being on the chopping block. In four years, I have experienced the feeling of brand new faces staring at me with harsh, judgemental eyes 4 times, something most high schoolers have to endure only once, if at all. However, these four different educational institutions have brought more than just scholarly concepts into my mind. They have each bent and contorted me in ways that have forced me to learn to become inure. Each transfer required me to adapt and learn to make friends with people who were not…

Children need to feel they are a valuable member of their school community. It is important for children to learn in a safe and secure environment. I believe that greatness is within all of us; we just need a little help finding it sometimes. I have come to understand that one caring person can make all the difference in someone else’s life. As I venture further into my teaching career, I hope to help my students to Education is a journey of seeking answers and experiencing. Every human being has the ability to learn and apply meaning to education. Learners should not be encouraged to surrender to the ideals and beliefs of a set curriculum. Rather than settling for the minimum learning requirements written out based on the expectations of the state, students should encounter knowledge, build a solid structured foundation, and then branch out to master the skills and ideas that they wish to develop and pursue. Learning then becomes a map of the sea. Students may be influenced by the way the wind blows and the tossing of the waves, but they have the knowledge and ability to adjust their sails to follow the path of the desired horizon. As educators we should not be neutral in our teaching, but radical and dynamic so that our students can learn beyond what is normal, static, and unchanging. I believe that the historical foundations of knowledge and the truths revealed by the past are vital to the knowledge of the future, but I also believe that we are agents of change and that we should teach our students to not only build upon and consecrate the truths of our past, but to challenge them and use them to think critically and make new history.…
When I first started school at the very young age of six I remember stepping through the stone threshold and into a huge elementary school with diverse attributes like height, nationality, personality and race. It was amazing to see all the diverse people at the school including myself! I thought to myself that I wouldn’t fit into school with the other kindergarteners at first but I actually did because most of the kids in my class lived in my neighborhood. It felt so awesome to be in a diverse class with students that welcomed you with an open heart and even felt better to be getting an education than just sitting at home for five years and sleeping, eating, playing and drinking in a diaper. In the first few weeks of starting elementary school everything was good, I was happy to be away from home and socializing with new people and getting an education. After the…
About 50.1 million students attend public elementary and secondary schools, while an estimated 4.9 million students are expected to attend private schools. Each student has an opinion about schools, and academics. I interviewed two high school students and asked for their views on what a classroom should look like, how teachers teach, qualities of a good student, and what a role model is. I wanted to compare the thoughts of two people, in the same grade, who are very different. My goal was to show how unalike people can have alike thoughts and beliefs. My interviewees came from different schools, backgrounds, cultures, and lifestyles. Both students had similar perspectives and wanted to see changes within the classroom.…
