Human Resources Primary Function
Human resource management can be defined as the effective selection and utilization of employees to best achieve the goals and the strategies of the organizations, as well as the goals and the needs of employees (Samaunvong, n.d.). It is human resources primary function is to use employees to help the organization to achieve organizational goals. There are many aspects that human resources use in order to perform its primary function to include: equal employment opportunities, affirmative action, planning, recruitment, selection, development, compensation, benefits, safety, health, and employee labor relations. Although each aspect of human resources primary function may not be equally important, it is necessity that human resources focus on all of these aspects in order to perform its primary function. By focusing more on certain aspects of the primary function the role of human resource management can be optimized. Through specific, current and/or future applications human resource management has the potential to impact future career plans or even personal life at home.
Equal employment opportunities are necessary in order to perform the primary function in that it is concerned with both moral and legal responsibilities for the organization. Human resources accomplishes equal employment opportunities by preventing any discriminatory policies that would affect the hiring, training, compensation, and appraising of employees. Without equal employment opportunities human resources would not be able to perform its primary function because the discrimination would prevent the organization from hiring or promoting the best candidate or employee for the position.
