Refresh Benjamin Percy Analysis

To start this journal, I would just like to say "Genre Fiction" should not be compared, honestly with "Literary Fiction." After reading the short story by Benjamin Percy, "Refresh, Refresh," I became very depressed. After reading the "Literary Revolution in the Supermarket Aisle: Genre Fiction is Disruptive Technology," I discovered why. "Refresh, Refresh" is what I would call a piece of Literary Fiction. It has merit and depth, and yet so does Genre Fiction. "Refresh, Refresh" is also "Genre Fiction," as well. However, Literary Fiction helps us escape reality as does Genre, but Literary just gives us more problems. Depressing, ulcer-causing, loss of appetite problems. Those poor boys in that small town! I didn't want to have dinner that night after reading the story. Escapism is to distract from unpleasant realities, I thought this to be Literary Fiction, but if
He seems to have only been the guy that avoiding all the pain. Until the two protagonists in the story, beat him up, almost like if that soldier had come home to find him in bed with his wife. For the short story, I could see the boys really standing up to the bully and beating him up in the middle. Then to find out the bully's father had passed. Then after, possibly befriend him and they all join and carry on in their father's footsteps. My long term goals are to become a stronger writer. I believe I am creative, but I need to work harder. I want to write for film and create ideas and work in a room full of writers and brainstorm. Ideally, a writer/creator for horror films or whatever my soul writes. New Line Cinema, Dark Castle, Columbia, etc. The list goes on and on. I want to be in charge of what people see on a screen. I want to entertain others with the world, as I have seen it for more than thirty years. My tank is full, I just need the directions to get
