Refugee: A Narrative Fiction
“I love you!” But by the time I looked back my mother was gone. I knew she was just trying to get me away from her when she said “go hide, let’s play hide and seek.” A few minutes later I realized why she had me hide, there was a group of mean soldiers chasing her on massive, muscular horses, but I knew most of the horses the soldiers were riding, they used to be in my herd but they went missing, they used to be so beautiful and free now they are machines used to catch more wild horses. I ran and hid by a big pile of dead, soggy leaves. Eventually, I came out from hiding a few hours later, now I was all alone in a big gloomy forest. I was cold, damp and covered with mud and leaves, all I heard was the crunch beneath my feet it was as quiet as a mouse. I …show more content…
One of the field mice were telling me about a magical mare who knows all the secrets of the forest but he didn’t tell me where to find her or her full name because I ate him. All I remember is mythical…mythical something” then he saw a little creature in the meadow and went to catch it. Later that day I met a little cricket I asked him questions about my mom and he said “I personally don’t know your mom. But the mythical mare does, you can find her in a field if you keep going north a few days. You will know who she is just by looking at her, she is so beautiful. She will be in the yummiest field, well I have to get to my concert. Good luck!” and he hopped off. As soon as he left I ran as fast as I could, he said it would take a few days I got there in 2 hours. When I got there it was so beautiful it looked like my best dreams. And the cricket was right I could definitely tell who the mythical mare was… she was in the middle of the field she was as gold as treasure and had piercing blue eyes. I slowly walked toward her she was facing the opposite way but before I even got to her she said

After watching a movie about war, or any other scary movies, have you ever imagined yourself in the position of a character? A lot of people make comments like: “I would do this instead of that! Why is he so foolish, and did not run away in the opposite direction?”. I am pretty sure that some of you had reactions like that. We are all different. People react to the same situation in many ways. Some people better in stress, emergency situations, and some are simply not. In the article, entitled “What’s in a Refugee’s Bag? When I came to Australia I had to leave behind my mother and two brothers, they are still in the refugee camp in Chad, neighbouring Sudan, where I spent 14 months before my papers were finalized to come to Australia. My family and I had been forced into the refugee camp in February 2004 when my father was killed by pro-government Arab militia, called the Janjaweed, who were carrying out massacres against black Muslims in my home of Darfur in western Sudan. They called these killings “ethnic cleansings”. We, at least, were lucky enough to escape to a refugee camp in bordering Chad. Conditions in the camps were terrible. Far from being safe in the camps, I watched as people around me died of fevers, wound infection, starvation and malaria. There…

As an individual grows the end result is a person’s identity or sense of self. An individual’s perception of belonging is built upon their personal experiences and the affiliations they have forged within their own world. Experiences and relationships fabricate one’s personality and identity including their choice to belong, or not to belong. William Shakespeare’s As You Like It and Anh Do’s The Happiest Refugee delve into how belonging through relationships and the development of individual autonomy is influenced by personal, cultural, and social contexts, as the characters strive to identify what constitutes their own personality and sense of belonging to people and community.…

The largest migration in American history was the Dust Bowl exodus. “Between 1935 and 1939 nearly 300,000 southwesterners migrated to California” (Rice 407). Family farmers, tenant farmers, and sharecroppers, were the people that were displaced during the 1930’s; there were multiple reasons behind the exodus of the people whose families had worked the land for many generations. Severe drought in the Great Plains region, particularly western Oklahoma and the Texas panhandle, coupled with over cultivation of the farmland led to crops withering and dying. This area, which became known as the “Dust Bowl”, would suffer winds that would sweep down the plains and pick up the arid topsoil, creating large, unpredictable dust storms; these dust storms left large areas of farmland barren.…
