Refugees In Canada
From 2005 to 2014, about 26,000 refugees who arrived in Canada annually were forced to leave their countries due to fear and persecution.1,2 The United Nations defines a refugee as "someone who is unable or unwilling to return to their country of origin owing to a well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group, or political opinion”.3 Refugees in Canada are divided into two groups: those that have obtained the refugee status within Canada (both privately-sponsored [PSR] and government-assisted [GAR]) and refugee claimants who are awaiting government decision. Refugee claimants can come from Designated Countries of Origin (DCOs) (countries deemed safe by the federal government) or from non-DCO countries. DCO claims are processed faster to ensure that protection is given to those in need and those with unfounded claims are sent back quickly.4 Refugees differ from immigrants as they were forced to flee their home countries while immigrants willingly chose …show more content…

Second, other key impact of globalization is the free movement of labor. In a globalized world, workers can more easily move from one country to another to market their skills to employers and contribute to the economy. As some Canadian entrepreneurs with the purpose of domestic business to grow, those companies have to capitalize on efficiency except looking outside the company as off-shoring, yet sometimes recruit foreign workers. Temporary migration is used strategically for national and regional economic development in Canada. Canada is flexibility to attract highly skilled migrants and to fill low-paid labour market niches in recent years. Attracting and retaining highly skilled workers and wealthy entrepreneurs and provide low-wage labour…

Issues such as lack of proper education, dead-end minimum wage jobs, unsanitary living conditions, and unfair labor practices can have a detrimental impact on the health condition of individuals in a community. Newcomers or recent immigrants in Canada do not always get the job that they desire and many end up doing odd jobs barely able to meet basic needs. In that case proper health and wellness would become the least of their priorities. As society and as a nation we must strive to correct all the inequities such as job opportunities, access to affordable high-quality education, and overall activities and programs that help integrate immigrants into mainstream Canadian society.…

This may be the most difficult speech I have ever written. Most of us are familiar with the famous photograph of a dead Syrian boy, who washed up on the shore of a Turkish beach after drowning as he family tried to escape the violence wrought by the Islamic State terrorist group, ISIS. Throughout this tragic crisis, countries from all over the world have been called forward as global citizens to help with what has been referred to as the worst humanitarian crisis of our generation. Canada being one of those countries, has promised to resettle 25,000 refugees by the end of year. Meaning within one months time we will have 25,000 more people in Canada. Those people are going to be given access to our resources, health care, and education.…

I believe that this is very important not only to these refugees, but what Canada stands for. We stand for freedom and equality, whether someone was born here or not is of no consequence to them. We help those who need the best we can, we weren’t always so helpful though. Once in 1938 Jewish refugees who were fleeing from Nazi rule had requested refugee status in Canada, the Canadian government refused to accommodate these people who had requested our help. This refusal to help was essentially a death sentence for all those who applied. From then on we have helped as many as we could, as we have learned from our mistake. Our helpfulness is very important, we are peace keepers above all else while in conflict, if anything it is one of the biggest factors in all Canadian…

From World War One to present day, a positive change is visible on Canadians’ views on refugees. Due to historical events during the world war years, post war years and the past few decades, certain amounts of refugees have come to Canada. Furthermore, these certain amounts of refugees has only been increasing to larger amounts because of the diminishing of discrimination in society. As the differences in faith, ethnic and race stops mattering to Canadians, more and more refugees have been accepted into Canada, resulting in a drastic change in Canadians’ views on refugees. Moreover, since World War One, Canadians’ views on refugees has transitioned from being negative to more supportive.…

I believe the U.S. should accept more refugees to connect races, stop their fear of persecution, religion, political opinions. Most americans agree with U.S. help for refugees and also we can decrease disgraceful thing in America history. Refugees do not come on a whim, they come because they have situations that force them to come. In recent years, a lot of refuges have to leave Syria because of civil wars, persecutions and much violence. In this arduous situation, the other countries had to make a decision to accept or not in the country. US candidates do not agree with the argument of refugees. Donald Trump does not want the refugees to migrate to the country because they cause violence, while Hillary Clinton is willing to give them a place…

Media sources and human rights organizations indicate that there are high levels of homophobia in Albania (Human Rights Watch 16 Feb. 2010; The Human Rights Brief 3 Mar. 2010; Balkan Insight 5 Dec. 2007). Media sources report that the gay community has been primarily underground (BBC 30 July 2009; Reuters 5 Feb. 2010). In a telephone interview with the Research Directorate on 10 September 2010, an LGBT rights activist from the US with a Ph.D. in Anthropology, who lived in Albania, participated in the US embassy speakers program and was a founding member of the Tirana-based LGBT rights organization Aleanca Kunder Diskriminimit te LGBT (Gay-Straight Alliance Against LGBT Discrimination), stated that there are no gay clubs or neighbourhoods in Albania and that hardly anyone is public about being LGBT.
