People often find themselves listening to music. Many children also find themselves given the opportunity to play such music. When introduced the musical field, one is also introduced to a myriad of instruments. Most of them look completely different, but the saxophones of the woodwind family couldn’t look more alike. One could barely tell the difference between the Alto and the Tenor, the most common of the family. When deciding which to play, it may be hard to decide because of the lack of differences. Although, if one were to choose between the two, he may want to take into consideration the following aspects: size, sound and appearance.…

Katie is a 35-year-old professional woman, wife and mother of two small children. Katie was first introduced to pain medications after a car accident left her with an injured lower back. The pain medications she took, began a neurobiological response in Katie’s brain that she had no control over. Narcotics take aim at the brains reward system, saturating it with dopamine, giving the user a feeling of pleasure (“Drug Abuse, Addiction, and the Brain,” n.d. p. 2). Katie’s brain began to acclimate to the dopamine surges. Which in turn, the brain generates less dopamine and or decreases the dopamine receptors. This made Katie use more and more drugs, to continually try and attain the dopamine high (“Drug Abuse, Addiction, and the Brain,” n.d. p. 2) Brain imaging studies show that areas of the brain that regulate judgement, behavior control, learning and memory are affected by drug addiction. These changes create the abuser to seek out and take drugs compulsively (“Drug Abuse, Addiction, and the Brain,” n.d. p.1). This began Katie’s addiction to prescription pain medications.…

Loss of innocence is a feeling of guilt and having the feeling of having done something wrong. “The Bass, The River, and Sheila Mant” is a short and fictional story by W.D Wetherell in which the narrator chose Sheila Mant, a girl he was crazy about, over what he loves more which is fishing for bass. The river was taking the canoe backwards it was like him trying to hold onto his childhood. River is drinking more than what can handle. "Taking a deep breath, I paddled as hard as I could for the middle, deepest part of the bar. I could have threaded the eye of a needle with the canoe, but the pull on the stern threw me off, and I overcompensated."…

There was even a younger choral section that sang when the moment came. Everyone had their sense of purpose that combined to make a fantastic ensemble of a colorful assortment of music.…
Jerry Goldsmith was the great genius behind the musical score for Planet of the Apes, his work still to this day remains a classic. Not only was his choices for the making of the musical score for the movie genius, they were innovative as well. His addition of ethnic instruments to an already large orchestra added a feeling of anxiety and sort of depicts the apes as horrific. The way he utilizes non-traditional instruments such as ram’s horns or electric harps gave the musical score a more thrilling experience. The addition of extra percussion instruments help draw you away from the more…
