Regular School Hours
The idea of adding one and a half hours to the school day each day is an absolutely terrible idea. First, I fill that an extension to the school day will bring no benefits to students or staff. If an extra hour and a half get added to the school day there will be no other time for extracurricular activities. Sports, clubs, and meetings will be very hard to attend because there will hardly be any time. Also there is so much stress put onto students and staff already, so if even more time gets tacked onto the school day the staff and students will be very fatigued. Most people think the school day is long enough as it is, so even with the hours of school today there is hardly any time for students or staff to get home to their family. Again, The school board members must rethink the idea of adding even more time onto the school day. …show more content…
Already, with the normal school hours, parents and students think that there is too much time in the school day. If an extra hour and a half gets added onto the school day, the school might just have to take away sports and clubs period. Some students who want to grow up and play professional sports cannot because of the extra hour and a half that gets added onto the school day. To sum up, sports will not be possible if the extra hour and a half gets added onto the school day.
Furthermore, students and staff are already stressed out during the school day. Just imagine how stressful it will be to go an extra hour and a half. The class time will be longer which leads to even more planning which leads to even more teaching. That will lead to even more stress than a normal day of school. Adding an extra hour and a half to the school day also means more learning and knowledge to take in at once which can be atrocious for a

Certainly, students would not be as miserable if the school hour would start later in the day. If the school hour started later then students would not have to stumble around, half asleep in the morning. Many students are miserable and tired in the morning, many students are falling asleep in classes causing them to fail tests. Because they are tired and failing tests it is creating upset students, so if the school day started later no students would be tired, asleep, or failing tests which would also create happy teachers. For these reasons, I strongly believe the school day should start later to prevent miserable and tired…

While this is a concern to a lot of high schools and to a lot of athletes in high school, the schools that have implemented a later start time have seen few problems in after school activities (¨Eight Major Obstacles to Delaying School Start Times¨). Schools will reschedule the practices, allow practice to run a little later than normal, and match times are changed to meet the student's needs (¨Eight Major Obstacles to Delaying School Start Times¨). Students who get more sleep are more likely able to finish their homework early, allowing time for after school activities (¨Eight Major Obstacles to Delaying School Start…

If sporting events started later and ended later less people would attend. Schools generally charge five to ten dollars to attend football games and if a hundred less people showed up that would put the school out five hundred to one thousand dollars. With school the way it is right now students generally have three to four hours to spend with family, do chores and just relax; this would only leave the students an hour or so to do all of that. If a group of students wanted to get together after school and play football or video games how would they with only an hour after school. For example.…

    Why Start School Later?

if jimmy has good grades it makes him look good and the school will look good. so there for i do believe that a later day start would great for everyone. Also i think it would benefit the teachers because then they would have more time to get stuff done and maybe it'd actually allow them to teach better which would also allow the students to learn better and again earn better grades on class work, homework, and test. but however by doing that and getting out a hour later or possibly more then that it will also give teens and kids less time outside during the day when the sun is up to get something's done and pretty much students and teachers would be living in the dark because you'd always be in school during the day. but still for better grades and more…

Therefor I don’t think our school board should add time to each school day. I think we should keep our schedule starting at 7:30 and ending at 2:30. That way we can get home do chores, play and go to any afterschool activities. If we changed our school hours that would interfere with parents/guardians work schedules. Now with the schedules our school has we don’t get to restless with the teachers or other…

Overall, the benefits of starting school later in the day highly outweigh the opportunity costs. Schools would see happier and more attentive students filling the desks every day. When the students are happy, everything else works out. This idea has proven to benefit trying schools, so this idea has many reasons to be given a…

My first reason on why we shouldn’t add any more hours is because there would be no time for extracurricular activities. With having no exercise time in the day kids would be wild and hard to get asleep at night, which would be a long day ahead of them.Because normally kids would be worn out after gym or running around playing on the playground. The…

For this debate I am debating why school time should stay the same. J.C.M.S middle school in Sierra Vista has a delayed start time of 9:00 a.m., and finish school at 4:00 p.m. This affects the children who are involved if afternoon sports, most time not getting out until 6:00 p.m sometimes later. If you have homework that same night after spending two hours doing a sport you might procrastinate and not do your homework at all or you will be tired and end up making mistakes that should not have been made. An earlier start time ensures an earlier release time letting sports start earlier and homework being done at an earlier time while not as exhausted from the day.…

If schools started at 9 am they wouldn't get out until around 4 pm, but if schools started at 7:30 am kids could get out of school at 2:30 pm. It would be better if they went earlier and got out earlier because it can give kids time to be productive and do other things that they may need to get done after school. Next, it would be less convenient for the kids to do other activities after school. Let's say you do a sport after school, it would be pretty hard if you got out of school at a…

It will help students get the sleep they need so they can be proficient in school and be ready to give it their…

One of the reasons we think the school start time should stay the same is because it will make the time commitment of participating in after school activities more difficult to manage. All of us, like many other students, participate in after school activities. A later school start time will mean that school activities will start later and run even later than they do now. The later in the day it gets, the less energy we have to give 100% effort mentally. We will also be more physically tired which means if…

Late start school would modify the school schedule, putting much stress on the populace. Late start school is a bad idea because it interferes with after-school activities. First, late start school reduces practice time for sports because of how late school would get out. Receding practice time would give kids less exercise, and research says exercise helps you sleep better. Good sports teams get a ton of practice; practice makes perfect.…

The first year that we could have it in the school, there would be many mistakes and I believe that it might not help student out. If we could change the schedule it might make it harder on the students and, they do not want to make it more stressful on the students. Since that it would affect the whole primary, middle, and high school it would be a big change for all of us. I don’t necessarily believe that the student would go for this idea of changing the schedule.…

Moreover, having students stay in school for more days can help the school meet its needs. A better explanation would be schools would have no problems, economically. To prove the point, students buy snacks, lunch, parking, and materials. Students don't realize how much they help the school pay its bills such as diesel, supplies, and utility payments. Having a four day school week can increase the…
