Rehoming Policies: RSPCA
REHOME AN ANIMAL

Rehoming policies – RSPCA (Rehoming policy, 2014.)

Stray animals are kept for at least seven days, this allows any owners of the animals found to be able to reclaim them.
All animals are given an examination by a veterinary surgeon before adoption.
Anyone under the age of 18 or without proof of identification are not allowed to rehome an animal.
No animals are allowed to be rehomed to anyone until reasonable steps have been taken to ensure the animal will have a good quality of life in the future. Once a match has been found between animals and a potential owner, a home visit will take place.
Potential owners should always choose an animal in person and never over the internet, mail order or given as a prize.

The RSPCA will always vaccinate and neuter all cats, dogs, rabbits and ferrets before rehoming.
All rehomed dogs and cats will also be microchipped.
The RSPCA will not rehome any rabbits, unless specific medical or behavioural problems, alone.

Next, the cats head is gently pulled back so that the cat's nose is pointing towards the ceiling, as this is happening, the cat's mouth should automatically open a little (Ruben, 2006). Now with the head up, using a forefinger and thumb against the corners of the cat's mouth, as shown in figure 4, the cat's mouth should open a little wider. If needed, the handler can use their other hand, gently push the cat's jaws open further with another finger. The pill needs to be placed in the cat's mouth as far back as possible, once, inside the cat's mouth, the jaw should be closed quickly, stopping the cat from spitting it out. To encourage the cat to swallow the pill, a finger can be lightly run up and down the cat's throat. When the cat begins to lip their lips, it shows that the pill has been swallowed (2).

How would you feel if a pet you had since you were a child could no longer be by your side because the county you live in does not allow them anymore? This scenario is very possible due to the Breed Specific Legislation law (BSL). This law regulates which animals are not allowed in a certain area. BSL began in the 1980’s when the number of dog bites went up significantly in the U.S. As people noticed this trend, states began becoming stricter with their breed regulatory laws. The laws were really aimed at pit bull terriers and their mixes even though the law was supposed to be aimed at “dangerous dogs to society.” BSL is not limited to just dogs. Other animals are included in this…

The “Constitution of the Baptist Anti-Slavery Society,” formed on December 12, 1839, is a document that gives theological rationale for the organization of this Christian abolitionist society, and more generally for why Christians—particularly Baptists—need to be involved in the abolitionist movement to end slavery. The Constitution is composed of three central parts: 1) an opening statement on the urgent need for the immediate abolition of slavery; 2) nine articles that organizes the practices, structure, and officers of the Society; 3) an address to the Baptist churches of Providence that more fully explains the need and logic of the Society’s purpose.…

I completed my community service for the Autism Speaks U 5K run/3K walk, which was located at Kendrick Park in downtown Amherst. The mission of this organization is to spread awareness and fund research for autism, and there are 4 pillars which are research, awareness, advocate, and family services. This organization serves children with autism who live anywhere in the nation and are the younger demographic, but can be any race/ethnicity, gender, socioeconomic status, and group identity. I am different from the people served because I do not have autism, but I understand that it is a disorder that is not very well understood, so it is monumental to try to change that by finding causes and treatments for autism to help families of children suffering…

One of the first things that animal shelters and adoption centers do when they bring a new dog into their shelter is give the dog their shots. Shelters and centers do their best to try and prevent diseases and illnesses from reaching their dogs. Shelters and adoption centers are known for making sure that you and the dog that you are adopting have everything that is needed to live a happy and healthy life in their new home. They can spay, neuter, and do whatever else you want them to when you plan on adopting that dog. Instead of harsh, harmful conditions that dogs come from in puppy mills, in shelters and centers, dogs are often kept clean, tidy, and hygienic so the dog does not get sick.…

    Essay On Exotic Animals

    • 7 Pages

It is true that not all cases of an exotic pet have a negative outcome and the responsible ownership of these animals can happen. Although, this is not always the case: there are dangers involved in owning an exotic animal. Kukol, Zuzana reports in USA Today, "Dangers from exotic animals are low. On average in the United States, only 3.25 people per year are killed by captive animals." It also claims that most of the animals are not "stolen" from the wild, but born in captivity. Although 3.25 deaths may not be a lot, especially when compared to something like the number of deaths daily from a motor vehicle, it is still too many because these deaths are preventable by leaving animals in their natural habitats. The article "Animals Born in Captivity" says, "Wild animals usually prefer to stay away from people; captive raised animals on the other hand are often too familiar and social with humans. For a wild animal, losing its caution of humans is a bad thing, dangerous for the animal and possibly us." When wild animals encounter humans, many foreign germs and infections spread to both the animals and the humans. Similarly, feeding wild animals may attract more animals into a town or near people, which can easily spread diseases and expose both the animals and the humans to foreign, and potentially deadly, germs and…
