While Jeannette was back getting her surgery her cousin felt uneasy in the small waiting room and heard screams and moans coming from the operating room. Jeannette lay wide open on the table, she only received animal tranquilizer Ketamine, makes you go into a trancelike effect. On July 5th, Bernai went back to Ocean Health to get her stitches removed. Reinalde noticed that her breast seemed lopsided, the left was bigger than the right. The next couple of months went downhill with even more problems. November 15th, 1998, she received anesthesia but could feel everything as he forced his hand way under the skin of her chest. Jeannette says that her breast were grossly deformed, her nipples were no longer visible they were under the folds of her breasts. Jeannette had trouble finding a lawyer because she was broke form the surgery. She was unable to have sex with the father of her kids and he began to see other women. Jeannette then found a lawyer named Spencer Aronfeld. He was born in Chicago and raised in Kansas and had a reputation for taking on lost- cause cases. When spencer met Jeannette he was unsure about the financial prospects of the case. He also noticed that her breast didn’t look like a females breast should. When the lawyer looked at the case he thought Reinalde was a well-insured plastic surgeon but he wasn’t so That means no insurance company to sue.
Mileydi Pimienta a 26- year-old Miami model went to Reinalde for a breast enlargement. The price all together was $86,000 and that was too high for her. Bozza called her and said they were having a Christmas special 50% off, only $3,000 now. She got the surgery and had complications similar to Jeannette. Her breast was leaking a thin liquid which was pink at first but then turned yellow. She went back to Reinalde and he cut one of the fingers off his surgical glove and used it as a drain. He would stuff one end of the gloves into her incision. He kept the latex finger in her incision and made her come back. Pimiento was in a lot of pain from her implants rotating inside her. One of her breast looked like a lump of clay. Reinalde made her feel as if it was all caused by her because he said that she was anemic, diabetic, or had AIDS. Reinalde had some legal documents on his desk and Pimiento saw the case on Jeannette when she charged him with malpractice.
Baez met Reinalde in spring of 1999 at a Mexican restaurant just a few blocks away from his office.
Baez worked as a musician but body building was his dream. Reinalde made himself sound like real surgeon. Reinalde went back to the restaurant where Baez mentioned that he wanted to take care of some small indentations in his chest. Reinalde said that the pectoral implants wouldn’t be a problem. Baez wouldn’t be able to work for a week and the gym lifting weights for about a month. Reinalde told Baez that it was only $2,000 and it covered his expenses and the fee for the anesthesiologist. Reinalde was in a moment of overconfidence and asked Pimienta and her boyfriend to make a document of the surgery so he could show other surgeons his
work.
