First Bruno and his family move to a different home which is really tough especially for a kid, then he begins to witness his family crumbling, and on top of that his friend Shmuel suffering so much. Shmuel has also had it tough all this time. He was separated from his family, his freedom was taken away, and is living in constant suffering and fear.
