Abstract
The study of economic growth in relation to community development cannot be overemphasized. Community development is not all about economic growth. This study reveals how and when a country, using Nigeria as a case study, can be said to be developing having experienced economic growth. It tells the story of different sectors of the economy, painting the picture of Nigeria before its return to democratic rule in 1999, juxtaposing its earnings from crude oil over a period of time with respect to the development of the people of Nigeria. It considers availability of key and basic infrastructures and population growth. The study below also elucidates various interventionist programmes and the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan. Finally, it presents a workable template using the Ondo State example.
Methodology
