from the Capulet. Their unknown feud led them into eternal hatred. Under those circumstances, they kept their marriage a secret. Juliet’s parents had ordered her to marry Paris on Thursday. Consequently, Juliet takes a vile which puts her in a death-like state. Thinking that Juliet is dead, Romeo gets to her vault where she is laid and commits suicide minutes before she awakens. Juliet then, takes her life, because her beloved Romeo is dead, and she no longer wants to be in a world without him. Thus, it is clear that Romeo and Juliet in fact, are not supposed to be together. Secondly, Romeo and Juliet quick to fall in love with each other.
Before Romeo had come to the Capulet party, he had not known of Juliet’s existence. Once he set eyes on her, he proclaimed his love and inquired for her hand in matrimony. Conversely, it takes adults months to even enunciate their love for each other. In the same fashion, adults take even longer, sometimes years, for one of them to inquire for the other’s consent to wed. Also, Romeo and Juliet hardly conversed except from a few prepossessing words. They barely even knew each other. They never came to experience what the others hopes and dreams were. second. Thirdly, Romeo and Juliet are too immature to be in love.
Before Romeo fell in love with Juliet, he was in love with Rosalind. He spoke as if there were no women on earth that could rival her beauty, “Her beauty is like a note telling me where I can see someone even more beautiful” (1. 1.225). However, when he met Juliet, he had completely forgotten of the beauty Rosalind possessed, “My eyes were liars, then, because I never saw true beauty before tonight” (1. 5.50). This proves that Romeo loves with his eyes, not with his heart. After Romeo and Juliet got married, all that was on Juliet’s mind was to have sex with Romeo, “When the night comes and everyone goes to sleep, Romeo will leap into my arms, and no one will know” (3. 2.5). This indicates, that Juliet was to naïve to be in love. Juliet’s idea of love is more physical, than mental. This means, that she believes that to love someone, she has to be able to have sexual intercourse with them. Overall, this proves that Romeo and Juliet are too immature to love each
other. To recapitulate, Romeo and Juliet couldn’t possibly be in love because: they were star-crossed, quick to love, and way too puerile to be in love with each other. Firstly, destiny decided that they were not meant to be because of all the unfortunate events that come before their demise. Secondly, Romeo and Juliet are rapid to fall in love since they married on the second day of their coming together. Lastly, they are too unworldly to have true passion for each other because they were too immature to realize the genuine substance of love. These reasons distinctly highlight that even though people may believe that Romeo and Juliet truly loved each other, they were just unprepared youths who died for lust.
