A relationship is not only based on the pillars of love, trust and acceptance but also understanding. A relationship between two people can have very different meanings. In some relationships lovers can also be best friends as they share good communication like Raphaella and Garnet in Stones by William Bell. There is a special bond shared by a parent with a child because they share unconditional love which makes their relationship stronger. However, these relationships can go bad due to lack of understanding, lack of communication and trust. In his opinion love at first sight doesn’t exist as there is no point that someone will fall in love with a person right across the room and it is more a physical attraction not true love (Bell,19-20) . But later in story, he falls in love at first sight with Raphaella (Bell,28) . Their relationship didn’t have an amazing start as Garnet rarely get a chance to talk to Raphaella . Garnet tried his best to get Raphaella's attention but was unsuccessful every time. Whenever he asked her to go out with him she always let him down by saying I’m too busy (Bell, 30). But later they went on a date, after she visited his father's antique shop. She again started ignoring him . Then Garnet decided that he will confront Raphaella and ask her what is the wrong but he ended up kissing her .(Bell 89-91)This incident brought them closer. Their relationship and unconditional love was so strong that it carried into afterlife. Hannah couldn't rest in peace because of her pain of separation from Jubal. Every night her spirit would go to Jubal's grave crying and calling Jubal.
