with her, at the same time he feels he could hurt her and actually enjoy it. At one point the doctor did feel that he could have left and come back another time. This would have been the professional thing to do, but nothing about this doctor was professional. In the end the doctor felt the only way he was going to get the throat culture was to use force on the young girl and that’s exactly what he did.
The climax in this story is when the doctor is finally able to open Mathilda’s mouth. After opening her mouth, he was able to get the throat culture. The resolution is what the doctor finds once opening the young girls mouth. Which indeed is a sore throat that she has been keeping a secret. Mathilda is so angry with the doctor for finding out her secret that she attacks him. The doctor states at the end of the story, after he reveals that she has been hiding a sore throat for three days she is, “Now truly she was furious.” The climax and resolution bring a jarring or moving close to the story. After a long fight in hopes to keep her secret Mathilda losses. She ends up having to give into the doctor because the force he is using becomes to much for her to handle. She was no longer able to manipulate the doctor and her parents. Mathilda is furious with the doctor because he found out her secret, lost the battle, and when it was all said and done the doctor did indeed apply such force that her hurt the young girl. After the culture is taken and her father and the doctor let her go she attacks the doctor and cries tries of defeat.
