Working of Project:Introduction of Relay:A relay is an electrically operated switch. Many relays use an electromagnet to operate a switching mechanism mechanically, but other operating principles are also used. Relays are used where it is necessary to control a circuit by a low-power signal or where several circuits must be controlled by one signal.
Working:We are connecting two Sources one is KESC and second is UPS. KESC is connected with
Normally Open of the relay and Coil terminal and UPS is connected with Normally Close of the relay. When

Many electrical devices are “event driven”. An event simply means an input or output. For example, a computer is programmed to respond to a mouse click, or a keyboard press. When this event (input) happens, an action (output) will occur, for example opening of a window, or text appearing on a word processor.…

Protective relaying is a very important component of the electrical system. It protects very important and expensive pieces of equipment such as transformers from damage due to faults and other abnormal conditions that may exist on the power grid. More importantly it keeps us with power to our homes at an affordable price. Relaying, while initial costs are high, save utilities money which they can…

A simple electromagnetic relay consists of a coil of wire wrapped around a soft iron core, an iron yoke which provides a low reluctance path for magnetic flux, a movable iron armature, and one or more sets of contacts (there are two in the relay pictured). The armature is hinged to the yoke and mechanically linked to one or more sets of moving contacts. It is held in place by a spring so that when the relay is de-energized there is an air gap in the magnetic circuit. In this condition, one of the two sets of contacts in the relay pictured is closed, and the other set is open. Other relays may have more or fewer sets of…

Electrical power has become an indispensable part of modern day life. Our work, leisure, healthcare, economy, and livelihood depend on a constant supply of electrical power. Even a temporary stoppage of power can lead to relative chaos, monetary setbacks, and possible loss of life. Our cities live on electricity and without the customary supply from the power grid, pandemonium would break loose. Power outages can be especially disastrous when it comes to life-support systems in places like hospitals and nursing homes, or in co-ordination facilities such as in airports, train stations, and traffic control.…

Each of the devices is supported by different theories which we hope we would be able to integrate. A microcontroller “is a small computer on a single IC containing a processor core, memory, and a programmable Input/Output peripheral.” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microcontroller) We will be using this device as the brain of the system. We will be using the memory of the IC to encode the program and the I/O system inside the IC to retrieve data through RFID and other communication interface. Relays switches are switches which are electronically controlled. “There are only two fundamentally different operating principles: (1) electromagnetic attraction, and (2) electromagnetic induction. “(www.gedigitalenergy.com/multilin/notes/artsci/art02.pdf ). Wireless communication is a form of exchanging of data through a distance without the use of wires. By means of wireless…

For three phase induction motor, it is necessary that all the three phases of supply are present. While it is on load if any one of the phase goes out, or goes missing, the motor will continue to run with two phases only, but it will start drawing a huge current for the same load. This high current may run the motor unless switched off immediately. Failure of any of the phases makes the equipment prone to erratic functioning and may even lead to failure. Hence it is of paramount importance to monitor the availability of the three-phase supply and switch off the equipment in the event of failure of one or two…
