For years, charities have helped people in need. People donate money so the organization can provide food, clothing, and shelter for those without. One of the most talked about charities has done a lot of good, and is one Lanier Middle School has actively supported. Relay for Life is the charity that Lanier Middle School needs to keep supporting. One of the main things Relay for Life does is bring awareness and support to those suffering from cancer. Relay brings in many events that are appealing to children and adults alike. From the actual Relay for Life, to Bark for Life, to even the middle school field days. Relay has brought awareness in fun ways. Children can play games with their friends, and then be given the chance to donate. Adults can have the chance to do something active and healthy, and be there to support their friend or coworker with cancer. Relay for Life has a way of bringing everyone together for the better on one purpose, fighting cancer.
Their mission statement, which is their leading goal , says this, “ The American Cancer Society is to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer. “, this is exactly what Relay for Life has been doing! Since 1985, 5 billion dollars has been raised for research. This is fighting cancer like the goal said, since they are researching to find a cure. They have also had 4,960 communities host Relay for Life since 20008 and Relay take place in 9 different countries. It completes the last part of the goal as well, savin lives with donations and celebrating lives with all of the 4960 corporal events.
