In 1843, an enslaved woman named Carlota Lucumí helped lead a slavery rebellion at the Triumvirato sugar mill in the Matanzas Province of Cuba. Carlota was one of three leaders of the rebellion. She was kidnapped as a child from her Yoruba or Lucumí people of Nigeria in western Africa, brought in chains to Cuba and forced into slavery in the territory of Matanzas, where she worked to harvest and process sugar cane under very cruel and inhumane conditions. Matanzas was the scene of many confrontations between enslaved Africans and the cruel regime in Cuba during 1843 and 1844. During the early 1840s, a widespread resistance movement emerged among enslaved and free black people in western Cuba. The uprising at the Triumvirato sugar estate under the leadership of Carlota had a great impact both in Cuba and in other parts of the Caribbean.…

Hello, I am Jacob Jankowski. Thank you all for attending today. In this very moment, we are remembering my dear wife, Marlena. I sit and think, and I feel that Marlena was always a premier type of woman. She was my first lover, my first wife, and my first Marlena was true beauty. I’ve watched her grow as a person and that, in itself, is the true reason I am rejoicing in what she gave to me when she was alive rather to the day that we are separated by her death. Here are some memories of Marlena that I would like to share with you.…

Instead of being obedient to her husband, Marlena did what she thought was right in that situation and gave the starving man food. In Marlena’s relationship with Jacob she shows her dominance towards him due to her lack of dominance in her relationship with August. During one circumstance is when Marlena and Jacob are making love in the hotel room. Instead of the guy being the leader during this interaction, Marlena takes the leading role with Jacob, “we make love again. This time she [Marlena] takes my [Jacob] hand and guides my fingers, moving them against her flesh” (Gruen 273). Marlena shows dominance towards men not just in her physically and emotionally invested relationships but she shows dominance toward men in everyday life. For instance,…

The first way Rebeka suffered for this was by losing her favorite son to a different country for many years because of Esau's murderous rage Genesis 27:41-46. Rebeka thought it would only be for a few days and it wound up lasting more than 21 years, the second way was Rebeka was not able to be present for Jacob's marriage, which took place while he was gone, she was not able to be present to see the birth of Jacob's children, which were either born while Jacob was away or after Rebeka's death. Also, both Rebeka and Isaac were tormented by the fact that Esau married Canaanite women Gen.27:46-28:9. Another way Rebeka suffered was to never see Jacob again after he left for…

The video of the Daughters of Liberty was very interesting because it shows that women are becoming more independent and trying to fit in with society. The men were known for doing everything like running business and being involved in politics. The first important point in the video is when the women joined their man in the war not thinking about the positive outcome and how it brought attention to women's rights. That to me is what really shown women empowerment and how committed they were to help their country. Another valid point is when Deborah Sampson disguised herself as a men so that she can fight in the war. Sampson shows that anyone can be anything even if they are male, female or any ethnicity. I also think…
