Religion Behind Bars: An Anthropological study of prison religion in the district jail of the Muzzafarnagar, Uttar Pradesh.
RESEARCH QUESTION:To find out the role of Religion, and the grounds on which it emerges inside the prison?
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The history of mankind has shown the pervasive influences of religion, and thus the study of religion involving the attempt to understand its significance, its origin, and its myriad form, has become important in modern time , in a globalized world. Both religion and the prison have been subjected to considerable mates. Very little research has been done on religion within the prison.
Anthropology may attempt to explain what a society believes; many disciplines explore religion-psychology, sociology, theology, even biology in some instances. Each has its own focus and interest. The anthropological study of religion must be …show more content…

Literature review has done, which consist of books, article, newspapers and secondary sources
METHODS OF DATA COLLECTION
This research study will include both ethnographic and survey research methods in order to collect fieldwork data. Observation, Non-Participant Observation, interview schedule, semi-structured interview, life histories, case studies, genealogies, and visual and media techniques may be employed.
FRAMEWORK OF ANALYSIS
The collected data will be analysed in the light of earlier theories on the evolutionary, psychological, and functional aspects of religion among prisoners.
CONTEMPORARY RELEVANCE OF THE WORK
Special focus would be on analysing the collected data for knowing the contemporary relevance of religion among the prisoners in a globalised
