A system built under the Christian doctrine, the foundation of his Report. Moral education, is understood to mean, as explained by Ryerson, “the proper discipline of the dispositions and affections of the mind, by which a reverence for the Supreme Being, a love of justice of benevolence….and the conscience are enlightened and invigorated, must have its basis deeply and surely laid in childhood.9 Ryerson understood the omission of Christianity “in respect to both schools and the character and qualifications of teachers” was a frightening thought.10 He describes Christianity as a necessity that which “the full effects of such an omission—such an abuse of that which should be the primary element of Education, without which there can be no Christian Education; and without a Christian Education, there will not long be a Christian Country.”11 Once again, Christianity is deemed most important, as well as described to be embedded in the education of morality. Furthermore, this quote is quite indicative of the theme of conversion to Christianity, but that investigation requires another analysis. Ryerson vehemently expresses that a Christian education is so “vitally important”, as it establishes the very principles of the future character and social state of the…

Religion is a controversial but very important part of any student’s education. It’s almost unavoidable not to encounter religion, whether the student’s major is in healthcare, finance, law, or any other study. Studying religion will provide the student an understanding that will someday be useful in their career. As a nursing student, I can see how religion is of great importance as part of my studies. In my chosen field, I will be interacting and caring for a lot of people as part of my daily tasks. This means a very diverse and therefore very religiously different people. Having an understanding of most people’s religions will help me be more sensitive to their needs. Going into the healthcare industry, I will be facing numerous religious issues that will be ethically and morally challenging. Religion will be invaluable when I inevitably encounter these issues in the future. Understanding religion is important in nursing because it is invaluable when dealing with ethically or morally challenging religious issues in the medical field and it helps nurses to be more sensitive to patient’s individual religious needs.…

An ecclesia is a professionally trained religious organization governed by a hierarchy of leaders that claims everyone in a society as a member. Membership is not voluntary; it is the law. Consequently, considerable political alignment exists between church and state officials, so that the ecclesia represents the official church of the state. Ecclesiae formerly existed in England (the Church of England) which remains the official state church), France (the Roman Catholic Church), and Sweden (the Church of Sweden [Lutheran]). The Afghan constitution signed in 2004 declares the country to be an Islamic republic, makes Islam the official religion, and announces, "no law can be contrary to the sacred religion of Islam." The Afghan government, however, guarantees non-Muslims the right to "perform their religious ceremonies within the limits of the provisions of law".…

U.S. President Dwight D. Howard stated that, “If our government is not based on deep religious beliefs it has no meaning.” (H.R. Guggisberg, 1988, p.2) (MENG Xianxia/Cross-cultural Communication Vol. 7 No. 2, 2011, p. 232). Although religion has been a heated topic since the beginning of mankind, we cannot deny the influence it has had in educational institutions through the development of all civilizations. The role of religion in public education is not limited to America alone. Religion and Education are directly related to the development of all societies and cultures. In this paper, I will discuss and explain the influence of religion and education on societies since the beginning of mankind. 1) Religion deals with almost all aspects of human life. 2) History cannot be taught in education without the mention of religious influences on civilizations. 3) The role of religion in public education is not limited to America alone, since the beginning of mankind every civilization has shown some type of evolution within their religious and educational institutions. There are several examples from different parts of the world to prove how widespread the problem is. 4) All societies and civilizations are made up of individuals that belong to families. Families are the core of all societies and the religious choices of each family will society as a whole.…

Haile Selassie was born Tafari Mekanon in the late 1800's in the African country Ethiopia. He was crowned king, or "Ras" Tafari in the 1930's, thus fulfilling the prophecy of Marcus Garvey decades earlier has he proclaimed, "look to the east for the coming of a black king." Marcus Garvey is looked at in the Rastafarian movement as the biblical Moses since he was not only one of the greatest advocates for black repatriation in the Western World but also since he prophetically introduced and announced the coming of the Messiah. When the early Rasta's heard of the crowing of King Selassie - they knew that Marcus's prophecy was fulfilled.…
