Brian’s Song and Remember the Titans are not just stories about football but about much more. These books show what it truly is to be a team. Team is about everyone sticking up for one another and forgetting about differences. I have always had the motto in my head as team meaning Together Everyone Achieves More. In these stories you can tell that motto is slowly but surely shining through. The respect was shown several times throughout each book. In Brian’s Song pure respect was shown to Brian Piccolo from Gale and from Brian to Gale. They respected each other and that is another reason why there friendship was so special. They did not care about skin color they cared about personality and they cared for each other. In Remember the Titans respect was shown through many people but the ones that stood out most to me was the respect between Julius and Gary. They put color behind them even though at first it was an issue between them. At the end of the story you could tell how much both of these characters respected each other.
Brian’s Song and Remember the Titans shared the quality of trust. In Brian’s Song Brian had to trust Gale when he injured his knee. Brian assured Gale he would make him 100% healthy again. Gale put a lot of trust in Brian at this moment. In Remember the Titans a huge moment when they had to trust is when they got a new coach. The players had to put trust in the coach and trust he would do what is best for them and lead them to win the championship.
Brian’s Song and Remember the Titans are very similar stories but have unique differences. They are both stories that represent friendship and people of different races coming together and uniting as one team. During the time these stories were written racism was a major issue. The team’s had to put that aside for a love they all shared, which was
