This essay is about how The Humanism Renaissance has influenced our country from as early as 1400. A piece of art that help display these values and ideas would be Adriaen de Vries and his statue of Apollo. “Humanism is the term generally applied to the predominant social philosophy and intellectual and literary currents of the period from 1400 to 1650”. The Humanism Renaissance would be a period where the people wanted things to be their way. The people of the time felt that it was time for a change that the people needed to be able to speak for themselves and to be heard on what was important to them. So the zeal and increase of world pleasure began. “Expansion of trade, growth of prosperity and luxury, and widening social contacts generated interest in worldly pleasures, in spite of formal allegiance to ascetic Christian doctrine.” (Kries) When you start researching this topic you find that it all really started with people wanting to say no to those who had been basically doing their thinking for them. The religious and political powers of this time period were the people who were in charge of making decision for all. They were also the law makers and the people who told you what they thought were right and wrong. People for many years had lived as this was the truth. When you think about our current ways of life most would not stand for people telling us that we cannot have free though or free speech. Men of this time decided that there was more to life than what they were being told to believe. There were people of this time also who felt that the best people to think for men were men.
