fruit flies, yeast, and bacteria. Before reading about Rosalind Franklin the question as to who and how the structure of DNA was discovered and not one time did I think a WOMAN at that played a crucial part in discovering it as well. I was so blown away and encouraged to do and be great things at the same time. The fact that neither of these great women did not get the credit that they deserved for their hard work and dedication while they were alive goes to show how society was (and somewhat) is a “man’s world”. Both of these women are a part of many others who refused to let society or their families get in the way of what they wanted to do. The handout reading Race without Color did not grasp my attention or interests at all; to me it was like a book that you have to read for English class but has no interest in it at all. Maybe it’s because this specific article is for more of a “science person” and not someone who isn’t interested in science. Although I found it to be “boring” I do agree with the author that one CANNOT recognize any human races at all, due to the fact that not only African Americans have a darker skin, eyes, and thicker hair texture and not all Caucasians have lighter skin eyes and straighter hair. This article did make me question once again as I always do…why is there racism, why do we judge people by the color of their skin or their hair when structurally everyone is the same?
