INTRODUCTION:
Sumantra Ghoshal was an academic in the field of management. He was the founding Dean of the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad, which is jointly sponsored by the Kellogg School at Northwestern University and the London Business School.[1] In 1985, he joined INSEAD Business School in France and wrote a stream of influential articles and books. He was also a Board member of the Lufthansa School of Business, Swiss Re, McKinsey & Company and member of Board of Overseers at Harvard Business School. In 1994, he joined the London Business School. Ghoshal was a Fellow of the Advanced Institute of Management Research (AIM) in the U.K and a Professor of Strategic and International Management at the London Business School.[1] Anil Ambani, Deputy Chairman and MD, Reliance Industries Limited, said, "Sumantra Ghoshal has enriched many young minds all over the world by his books and articles, providing an insight to business, industry and management. His contribution to world institutes, including London Business School, is most noteworthy and his theories and philosophy will live forever, guiding the future generation."[2]

GHOSAL BACKGROUND AND PERSONALITY:
Ghoshal was born in Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) on September 26, 1948. Ghoshal married Sushmita and they have two sons: Anand and Siddharth.He graduated in Physics from Ramjas College, Delhi University, in 1970. After graduation, he joined the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) as a management trainee. He also put forth the '525 rule '. The '525 ' rule meant that 25 per cent of a company 's sales revenue should accrue from products launched during the last 5 years. Ghoshal worked at IOC for the next 12 years, during which time he
