Zero Hunger Project: School Phase
Global food security concern has become a global challenge to all nations. To address the issue United Nation calls for project “Zero Hunger Challenge”. It is a global initiative by UN that invites all nations to ensure food security for all citizens. In response to UN, United Nation Youth and Student Association of Bangladesh has come forward to make people aware and motivate to reduce food wastage. The part of the campaign was held in National Bank Public School and College, Dhaka on 29th June. The response was overwhelming. Despite of having unfavorable weather, the classroom was full of curious and enthusiastic young minds. The program was conducted session by session. In the beginning session resource person Mr. A.K.M Shahidul Islam addressed the issue of environmental vulnerability and food security in the context of global and national level. Following this a brainstorming session was conducted where students came up with unique solutions of ensuring food security. Meanwhile the president of UNYSAB Mr. Mamun Mia gave his welcoming speech. During the second phase of the program Deputy Manager of ActionAid Mr. Tanjirul Islam enlightened the students about environmental degradation and future threat of food security of Bangladesh. The dialogue between students and speaker was interactive and view exchanging. After the session the principle of Nbpsc thanked and welcomed the initiative of UNYSAB and pledged for his future support. Respective panel gussets were honored by giving crest handover by President of UNYSAB. In the last session a quiz contest was arranged by UNYSAB volunteers. Among all students three of the students were awarded for best scores. Although none of the students got back home alone as each one was given a plant.
