Freedom is a central theme in the Republican Party, one of its main tenets is that freedom will always be supported and preserved by the party. When looking at freedoms in the United States, the Republican Party wants to preserve our rights and make sure nobody feels silenced, although Americans have a first amendment right, the Republican Party wants to preserve and keep that right. The party has plans to secure all borders, and improve illegal immigration issues, A strong border, in the view of the Republican Party, equates to national security and protection. Over the span of almost four years, 3.8 million illegal border crossings and approximately 900,000 known as “get-aways” have been reported. These crossings cause so many lost jobs, overpopulation, and a financial strain on tax-paying citizens who legally reside in the United States. The Republican Party has no problem with legal immigration, but when it comes to illegal immigrants, the party will put it to an end. This can severely affect the United States, but it also creates unfair problems for legal citizens. With the influx of illegal immigrants, Republicans want to fix the violence and drugs that are becoming a problem in American society. Crime has grown due to illegal immigrants and migrants crossing the border. Cato.org states, “The illegal immigrant population here affects another variable like the number of illegal immigrant convictions or the total crime rate.” The Republican party will take drastic steps to keep a safe nation for all citizens, therefore going to extended lengths to make sure the country is well protected.
