NARRATIVE REPORT IN EARTHQUAKE DRILL
S.Y. 2014-2015
Almost everyone fears earthquake since nobody has accurately predicted its occurrences and because it can cause tremendous destruction to human lives and properties. The most common cause of earthquake is faulting. Sometimes, part of earth’s crust was pushed toward each other or away from each other. This moment causes the rocks to break and slide past each other, making the ground shake and tumble that cause landslide; thereby eroding hills and mountainsides and associated with other violent effect such as tsunami, crack o the ground collapse of building and other associated hazardous effect. In preparation for these natural phenomena, every schools and other government and private offices conducted an earthquake drill. Therefore, they should be prepared at all time to lessen the damages crated by an earthquake. A knowledgeable and experienced person serves as a keyboard in the implementation of this program. Information dissemination as well as demonstrations / drills implemented in assurance of success. Behavioral characteristics as well as one’s preparedness in this situation was set and established. The precautionary measured was done to keep safe from dangers. It served as their shield against the destructive effects of this natural occurrence. This year, our school together with the police forces and the health officers and the fire marshal conducted a disasters preparedness and in the implementation of the said program. To start with the activities they make sure that pupils familiarize with the particular route wherein they were be safe. They conducted some activities such as lectures forum. They give some insight about the effects of earthquake. They gave also some points to remember such as color coding of the important things for them so that in case of emergency situation can get and carry it right away. Different emergency signals were also given. Earthquake drills were also executed in proper sequences and attitudes. Some health practices were also taught in the said activities.
Therefore, after the activities; we concluded that pupils will enlighten the importance of earthquake drill, awareness and proper attitudes when this natural hazard occurs. Having self- confidence, staying calm and always prepared are some of the learning left in the young minds of pupils when this phenomenon occurs. “Do your best and God will do the rest.” Think of the possible way to keep yourself safe keep in touch with our Almighty, He will lend his hand and lead your path to make you safe. A positive attitude must have power over in time of calamity and hazardous situation Prepared by:

The earthquake, considered as the independent natural phenomenon of vibration of the ground, in very few cases poses a threat to humans, as for example when it causes major landslide or tidal wave ( tsunami). The earthquake becomes a dangerous phenomenon only when it is considered in relation with structures. Of course, the problem is the structure under seismic excitation and not the earthquake itself. This is because the structural system is designed basically for gravity loads and not for the horizontal inertia loads that are generated due to ground accelerations during an earthquake. Therefore, the earthquake has begun to become a problem or humans since they started building. Since the early steps of the technological development of mankind the joy of creation was associated with the fear that some superior force would destroy in few seconds what was built with great effort over a lifetime. In other words, the earthquake was always associated with the structure and therefore it mainly concerns the structural engineer.…

Earthquakes are caused when tension is released from the rocks in the Earth’s crust and upper mantle. This tension is due to friction between what scientists believe are large plates floating on magma on the Earth’s surface. Sometimes earthquakes happen when the rocks in the Earth’s crust bend and break. This causes shock waves to travel on the Earth’s surface, resulting in widespread destruction. Earthquakes usually occur in places where two plates meet, called faults, like here in the Los Angeles area. Earthquakes are mostly generated deep within the earth’s crust, when the pressure between two plates is too great for them to be held in place. The underground rocks then snap, sending shock waves out in all directions, which are called seismic waves.…

Earthquakes are a very dangerous natural disaster, if strong enough; they could destroy the best-built buildings. They are caused by a sudden shift in the tectonic plates. Earthquakes can also cause other types of disasters too. They could cause tsunamis or volcanic eruptions. However earthquakes erupt unpredictable and can kill many people unpredictable. Seismometers can detect the strength of the earthquake, which then gives a number on the Richter scale to determine how powerful it is going to be. There are many different levels of earthquakes, some can be so small that people can not even notice them, and others could be so strong that it causes the strongest buildings built to collapse. The scale goes from micro, all the way up to rare great.…
