Hate Crimes in Local communities: Guide No. 72
Personal Statement:
It is understandable that there are good people in this world and there are bad people as well. The notion good versus evil is portraying every day in our society. Our police force plays as the good and the evil guys are the criminals. It may seem we live in a peace country with equal rights and equal opportunity but there still that population of people who have a different perspective in living with each other. Hate can be described as a negative emotion that a human feels for another person. Crimes are committed all the time in the America but it seems to me that hate crimes carry more weight in the eyes of society. People mostly commit crimes to better themselves like money interest, or personal gains. A hate crime is considered as a personal crime, a crime that is passionate. Victims of hate crimes vary in the indiscretions placed against them, whether it is from a simple slander to a vicious attack. When a person is committed against for a hate crime their penalty is far above other crimes because they were carried out in hate. I believe that the idea of creating a separate punishment for crimes of this nature is a must. Hate crime need to be address more and solve correctly. When I started to make my research memo I went on the pop guide website and seen that a hate crime pop guide was created. My personal thought on hate crimes is that hate crimes need to be deterred. In order for me and others who shared the same Idea we first have to correct the local problem of hate crimes and then we can diminish it country wide. So saying that, in order to deter hate crimes we need to know what is a hate crime? Hate crimes are criminal actions intended to harm or intimidate people because of their race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and religion. I feel like hate crimes been going on
