Research Methodology
3.1 Introduction
Methodology is a specific way of performing an operation that implies precise deliverables at the end of each stage .The way in which research is conducted may be conceived in terms of the research philosophy subscribed to, the research strategy employed and so the research instruments utilised (and perhaps developed) in the pursuit of a goal – the research objective(s) - and the quest for the solution of a problem - the research question. I have outlined my research question and research objectives in Chapter One. The purpose of this chapter is to:
1. Discuss my research philosophy in relation to other philosophies;
2. Expound my research strategy, including the research methodologies adopted;
3. Introduce the research instruments that I have developed and utilised in the pursuit of my goals.
3.2 Research Design Case study research design was adopted in this research. A case study is an example of descriptive research method which concentrate on a single case or limited number of cases studies in-depth Ekeh(2003). Reason for the adoption of case study is that it is concentrated on a limited number of populations which could be representative of the total population as much as possible. However, it is less expensive and the result from it can easily be calculated.
3.3 Population of the study
The population of this study covers staff of Niger State House of Assembly Minna Library and National Information Resource Center Minna. A total of 50 staffs were chosen from the two libraries with a ratio 2:3 as respondents for this study. The simple random sampling technique was used to select respondents from each of the libraries to represent the sample of the study.
