The Research Process
The five major objectives of educational research include exploration, description, explanation, prediction, and influence. Research results from a desire to identify a research problem, which is a question or concern investigated. After identifying a research problem, the researcher reviews the literature. Depending on the type of research, review the literature may or may not be essential; for instance, quantitative research, which is based in numbers, relies heavily on literature. After the researcher identifies a research problem and reviews the literature, the researcher specifies a purpose and develops research questions. Then the researcher collects data. Finally, the researcher analyzes and interprets data. After reviewing all of the six steps, the researcher reports their research findings.
Strengths of Research Methodologies Used in Elementary Education
One type of research is quantitative research.
