Heart failure more fatal than common cancers

For men, the most common cancers are as follows: prostate, lung, colorectal, and bladder. For women: breast, colorectal, lung, and ovarian. “Only 5.5% of either gender suffering from heart failure did not have another disease as well, compared to 20-38% of cancer patients.” "This study highlights how anonymised data from general practices can be used to uncover evidence that helps us understand how patients can be best managed. The comparison will hopefully highlight the potential impact of heart failure to the public, who can take proactive steps to prevent it."

Right sided heart failure happens when the right side of the heart is unable to pump an adequate amount of blood to the lungs and out of the right side of the heart. This either happens because the hearts muscles are unable to fully contract or they are inflamed not allowing an adequate amount of blood to enter them. This leads to a backup in venous blood. The venous blood puts pressure on the walls of the blood vessels (especially in the legs). This causes blood plasma to leak into the interstitial spaces. This causes one of the major signs of right sided heart failure which is pitting edema of the legs. But, the fluid back up does not only cause edema. The failure of the right side of the heart to load sends a smaller amount of blood to the…

Diabetic Retinopathy, which is loss of vision and blindness, happens when tiny blood vessels grow in the eye, and the high concentration of glucose in fluid that are around the eye makes them fragile. Tiny bulges can be developed in the retina and it can develop in other areas in the eye, and if they start to leak or burst, the fluid and blood can spread throughout the eye. After it starts spreading, blood clot and scar tissue can start to form in front of the retina, which prevents light from hitting the retina, causing blindness. If the fluid is released it can cause swelling which leads to blurred vision. There is no treatment when this occurs ,but the prevention of the build up of glucose surrounding the blood vessels in the eye and the…

The Tale Tell Heart is one of the best books I read in middle school and is written by one of the greatest writers of the 18th century.Tell Tale Heart is based on a story about a man killing an old man because of his eye.At the end,the narrator managed to hide the old man’s body, and later on he confessed to the police because he heard the heartbeat of the old man.I believe theTell Tale Heart is apropriate for middle school kids.Even thogh the is about murder,it could teach kids about maturity and influence and encourage other kids to become gerat writers like the author of the story:Edgar Allen Poe.…

Earlier in her life through genetic testing the doctors basically knew she would eventually get it. After beating the battle with breast cancer my grandmother suffered from not only blood clots in her legs but also her lungs. The numbers are not on the side of the survival rate for Pulmonary Embolism. If you happen to survive, like my grandmother did, the body becomes congested which can lead to future problems. For her this lead to having congestive heart failure. A doctor at WebMD states that “Heart Failure affects nearly six thousand americans, and is also the leading cause of hospitalization in people older than age 65” (Congestive Heart Failure and Heart Disease).
