Research Paper On Bermuda

Bermuda is an isolated group of islands of volcanic origin in the Atlantic Ocean. The closest land is the shore of North Carolina 650 miles east of it. Bermuda is around 20 square miles of land which is made up of limestone covered in a layer of soil. There several main islands and many others nearby. The islands are ringed with coral reefs and many species of fish live in the shoals. The climate is humid and subtropical and most of the freshwater on the island is collected from rainwater. The capitol is Hamilton, and there are several other towns throughout the islands. The people of Bermuda are mostly of African descent from the West Indies and various other places where slaves were taken during the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade. Another third
of the population are whites, primarily from the United Kingdoms, United States of America, and Portugal. Industry on the islands are mainly composed of tourism, foreign financial dealings and some light agriculture. Tourism is the main employer on this island nation and employs the vast majority of the workforce. Over half a million tourists visit Bermuda every year and those tourists have quite an impact on the island. Bermuda is also considered a haven for offshore banking and while the overwhelming bulk of food production is imported, there is a small amount of agriculture grown on the islands. Bermuda is officially recognized as a self-governing British territory with a parliamentary government.
