Castilla la Mancha is a place located in Spain in a south-western European region that used to be part of the Kingdom of Castile. Castilla-La Mancha is bordered by Castile, León, Madrid and Extremadura. It is one of the most scattered populated among Spain's autonomous communities Castilla-La Mancha was the place that many historical battles between the Christian crusaders and the Muslims during the 13th century. It was also the region where the Crown of Castile and Aragon were merged together and unified in 1492 when Queen Isabel and King Ferdinand got married. Some festivals are an important part of Castilla la Mancha. The two best known festivals are the ones in holy week in Cuenca and Corpus which brings out many people from all
over the world and locals from the towns. Folksongs make the festivals interesting with music like José Ángel Hevia (bagpiper) and the group Llan de Cubel.
