Research Paper On Chromium
Chromium has an atomic number of 24 and is located in the 6th group, 4th period of the periodic table of elements. Chromium is a metal and can be identified by its atomic symbol of Cr. Chromium is a hard and brittle metal, making it hard to bend as it would break if one tried to do so. Chromium is also a shiny and lustrous metal with a grey color to it. Chromium may also be identified by its high melting and boiling point and can prove to be very useful in everyday lives.
Chromium was first discovered in Paris, France by a chemist named Nicholas Louis Vauquelin in the year of 1978. Vauquelin was intrigued in the red mineral that had been found in Siberian mines which was named Siberian Red Lead in 1966. After receiving samples of Siberian red lead which has come to be known as crocoite, Vauquelin decided to analyze it even further by doing

From its physical properties to its chemical properties, there are a numerous amount of ways to identify Chromium. For example, Chromium can be identified by its high melting and boiling point of 1907 degrees Celsius and 2672 degrees Celsius. But that’s not the only thing that can help identify Chromium. The atomic mass of Chromium is 51.996 and is unique to Chromium only. The amount of energy levels and the amount of electrons on its outer shell is also unique and gives Chromium its identity. Chromium has 4 energy levels and 6 electrons on its outer shell, a characteristic that belongs to Chromium only. Some physical properties that can identify Chromium is that it’s a grey and shimmering metal. However that alone does not define whether a substance is Chromium. Chromium is also a brittle metal, any attempt to bend it in any way will result in Chromium to break. Chromium is most likely known for being highly magnetic, another property that separates Chromium from other metals.
