Carmelita Who is a Mexican singer was brought to New York by Denis from Jalisco Mexico. The purpose of bringing Carmelita to New York was to sing. But was that really the reason? or did Denis liked Carmelita since the moment he saw her? Yet Carmelita had been proud of being Latina and she wanted Latinos to be the best in the sports that were occuring in New York. So she attended as many sports events as possible the day before her audition and she was cheering for Latinos to win and having fun not thinking about the consequences for the next day. Carmelita dint do so well in the audition and Denis was going to send her back to Mexico, but Carmelita wasn't going to let that happen so she went to a Mexican restaurant and was offered a job as a singer for the restaurant and she excitedly accepted the job. She performed that night at the restaurant and Denis was there with other friends and his fiancé. Denis fiancé wasn't as excited to see Carmelita performance, but one of Denis friends thought that she would be perfect for promoting his new perfume business and said he would like to contract Carmelita. Denis as a business man he agreed not only for the money he would be able to generate, but was that the only reason he accepted? I'm confident to say that he…

One of my personal favorite historical figures would be Mae Carol Jemison. She overcame the normalcy of a white man in space by becoming the first African American woman to go into space. First, I would ask her “how did you do it?” I really would like to know how she overcame all the pressure and abuse of being different in her field of study. Not many women during that time tried to get into the study of science. I admire Jemison for pursuing what she loved to do and not quitting because it was harder on her than the rest. Secondly, I would ask “would you do it all over again?” I would love to knw if it’s worth it to go through so much to be where she is now. If she would go through all her struggles to become an astronaut once more if she…
Kayla Cloward died October 28th due to blunt force trauma to the head in a car crash at the age of 14, and was born March 17th. Kayla’s childhood was what you could call good. She lived in Blackfoot all her life, and never got a chance to experience what it’s like to live in another state, let alone a town. Sure, she had her up’s and down’s, but she did things without a care. Some would say her childhood was lovely, she had one younger brother and an older brother, and two caring parents who loved her dearly. When she was younger she played on a little hill by her house, and in the winter, her and her brother’s would often go sledding down it. Besides that little hill, she would often go on walks with her parents.…

Amelia Martin, is like many other young people who have angry parents. She wishes they would talk, laugh, and share good times together as they did in the past. In Amelia's mind, her family's tension and disagreement between the northern and southern states the abolitionists and the slave-holders. In many ways, the slavery issue is the cause of her family's problems.…
This article is about Sandra Bland who on the 10th of July was pulled aside in Texas. Sandra Bland was threatened with a taser, forced out of her car, had her right to record removed, was hurt by the officer, and slammed into the ground. She told the officers that they were hurting her but they did not care, they did not listen. She also told them had no right to force her to stop recording or to get out of her car. Sandra Bland was arrested and after three days was found dead in her cell. It was supposedly a suicide…
Rebecca Nurse made a lot of good decisions in her life that makes her the person she is today. She is always doing the right thing and helping everyone. Once Betty was in a ‘coma like state’ and screaming Rebecca Nurse just simply walked over to her and she stopped screaming. She also tells everyone that there is no witchcraft involved in the town of Salem. She says that “kids are just being kids.” But when Ann Putnam says that her child is in a ‘zombie like state’ and not talking, Rebecca says again that she’s just being a kid, and when she’s tired of acting that way, she’ll stop. Ann then mentions that she isn’t eating either. Rebecca told her that she’s just not simply hungry yet, and once she is she will wake up and stop playing around. I am similar to Rebecca Nurse in a way that we both are caring and truthful people.…
The life of Jane Kenyon was one full of victories, hardships, and all around love for her creative and poignant poetry that she shared with the world. Throughout the terrible events that plagued her adulthood, Kenyon managed to persevere and do what she loved most, which was to keep writing and inspiring others. Many people who read her poetry are able to catch a glimpse into the underlying meaning that was intertwined into the verses. The purpose of Kenyon's writings was to show the world her best attempt at staying strong even through all the difficult events that occurred in her life. She was able to combine her personal life with her love for her work, just like most great poets do.…
She has been working for the same school for over 20 years. She started off as a teacher assistant in a pre-kindergarten classroom, which my oldest child was attending at the time. Esther came to Chicago with very little education, but a great desire to succeed. Esther says, “I have always known that I wanted to be a teacher. When I came to the United States, I came with the desire to succeed and learn. I did research on many schools and found out about programs that would help me achieve my goal. I was not going to take no for an answer.” Esther is a very friendly and enthusiastic woman. I often see her talking and laughing with parents on school grounds or in social events. Yes, Esther attends many social events in our neighborhood. She is well known by parents and children in the community. She has seen my children grow up and she has been a great support for me. I chose to interview Esther because not only does she work with children, she encourages women to become the best that they can be so that they can provide for their families and become independent. This is what she did for me. She encouraged me to go back to school and get my degree in…
