The election is coming up do you know who you side with? I side with Evan McMullin. McMullin was born in Utah on April 2, 1976. He is currently 40 years old. McMullin graduated from Auburn high school. Then he went on to get a bachelors in law and diplomacy at Brigham Young University. Then McMullin went on to get a Master in Business Administration from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He also spent time as a Mormon Missionary (“About Evan McMullin”). Guantanamo bay detention camp is located in Cuba. It was opened in 2002 and is used to hold terrorist and Muslim militants. At Guantanamo bay detention center prisoners may be tortured during interrogation. This is one of the May reasons activist groups have petitioned for the closing of Guantanamo bay. On January 22, 2009 Obama started the closing of Guantanamo bay detention camp (Nolen). There have been 780 inmates that have be held at the detention camp. As of 2016 only 81 inmates remain. This ban has been in place for 54 years. This allowed for almost no imports no imports into Cuba. Evan McMullin believes that this ban should not be lifted (“isidewith.com”). Lastly on the topic of foreign policy is the Syria refugee crisis. The war in Syria has left over 3 million refugees searching for places to stay. The U.S. has allowed for 10,000 refugees to enter in to the country (Park). Out of the refugees that have been let in to the U.S. Most of them are families or single mothers (“Syrian Refugees Surge into U.S.”). McMullin and I think that we should not allow single Muslim men in to the country, only families. Evan McMullin’s views on healthcare are similar to mine. He has the same stance on healthcare policies and drug legalization as I do. First is the topic of legalizing marijuana. Marijuana is a mind altering drug (“Majority of Americans”). It was originally a street drug but is now becoming used for many illnesses. There are 6 states that have legalized the use of medical marijuana. Doctors give out medical marijuana cards. Only the holders of these cards are allowed to carry one once on them and 6 ounces at home (‘State Marijuana laws map”). I agree with Evan McMullin that marijuana should not be
