Florence is a model of Renaissance culture. Much of Florence's wealth was dependent on manufacturing, trade or cloth (“Focus on Florence”). Wool of superior quality was often purchased unfinished and untreated from England and Iberia
(“Focus on Florence”). Florentine textile workers cleaned, carded, spun, dyed, and wove the wool(“Focus on Florence”). The wool that they created was often a superior quality. Traders shipped textiles and sold their finished material to nearby countries. Other textile experts purchased inferior cloth from northern cities and refinished it to create a superior product (“ Focus on Florence”). It was through the style of the Renaissance where Florentine artists could display their work.
