Genital herpes is a sexually transmitted disease caused by either strain the herpes simplex virus. This disease is very common, affecting an estimated average of 776,000 people each year in the United States. It is estimated that 85% of infected people between the ages of 14-49 have never gotten diagnosed with it.
People can contract the disease through sexual contact with an infected person where they receive infected liquids from either mucous membranes or from the lesions. This disease is so dangerous because it is rare to get noticeable symptoms. Genital herpes will sometimes show symptoms in which small blisters will form around the infected area called lesions. Left untreated, these lesions can rupture and infected people will have to
