Carver was born around 1864. He was born near Diamond, Missouri. Mary, George’s mom was owned by Moses and Susan Carver. George was a slave. His dad died before George was born. Once a group of men during the civil was kidnapped Mary and George. A neighbor found George but not Mary. His brother and him stayed with the Carvers. They soon left Missouri and moved to Iowa.
In 1896 Carver left Iowa to meet with Booker T. Washington at Tuskegee Institute in Alabama. There he conducted many
agricultural research. He helped poor farmers black and white.He also found out that sweet potatoes can be made into many different dyes. He won awards like the spingard award for agriculture.
George Washington Carver died on January 5th 1943 at the age of 72. Carver has his own national park. He was a great scientist.
