Research Paper On Hate Radio
“Hate Radio” Response

Hate radio is mainly about how corrupt the radio is and the effects it has on listeners. Many of these radio shows are criticizing, looking down on, and even making fun of minority races, minority religions, and even females in general. This gives the public reason to hate these minorities. It angers me that such a large number of people in our country can be influenced by radio. I think it should even be outlawed if they are making discriminatory comments about other races. I understand the first amendment and that there’s supposed to be freedom of speech in our country. I agree that the people speaking on the radio should be allowed to say what they are saying, but not to the entire public. When someone can

Westboro Baptist Church members led by Fred Phelps believe that God hates the United States and punishes its citizens for its acceptance of homosexuality. To express their beliefs, the church members picket military and other funerals. Phelps’ group pickets by carrying signs and singing songs while standing on public property. Other groups have been formed to protest Phelps’ group. The church claims their speech is protected by the First Amendment Freedom of Speech Clause in the United States Constitution. I agree that the church has this right as does the group protesting Phelp’s group, and neither is violating the constitutional rights of others, even though I believe the actions of Westboro Baptist Church are appalling and depraved.…

The United States of America is one of the only country’s on earth that has the right for freedom of press enshrined in its constitution (U.S. Const. amend. I). If you take a second to stop and think about that, we are one of the only countries who have truly ‘guaranteed media freedom’, that is something very special as well as something that is paramount to maintaining a functioning democratic society. It seems as if we almost take for granted the myriad of different sources and outlets that we can pull from and learn from. In this writing I will present you with two different ideologies that weigh in on the media system in America today, one from a liberal’s point of view and one from a conservatives point of view.…

    2. Rusesabagina describes how he would listen to absurdly racist radio debates. Though he loathed the opinions expressed, he found the shows fascinating. Why do you think people are drawn to media sources that they disapprove of? Is there a difference between our Constitutional freedom of expression and offensive &/or inflammatory speech? Do you think that there should be limits on expression in the media? Do you think that there already is censorship?…

It is hard to go one day without seeing some form of hate speech. I see examples of it on social media platforms on a daily basis. People do not think about the negative effects that occurs because of what they said. Moreover, the people who face hate speech may feel angered or frustrated enough that they, too, perpetuate hate speech. People do not care to listen to those who claim hate speech is an issue because they think that the 1st Amendment gives them the right to say anything they want without consequences. The freedom of speech does not mean that you should say negative things to those of a different race or religion.…

Temptresses use their feminine charms to reveal Odysseus’s promiscuous acts as well as his hubris. Calypso, a temptress in the epic, is a nymph who is “imprisoned” on the secluded, beautiful island, Ogygia. In Book IV, Odysseus is washed ashore on Ogygia and is there for seven years, continuously being tempted by Calypso. “True enough,/ Calypso the lustrous goddess tried to hold me back,/ deep in her arching caverns, craving me for a husband”(Homer IX. 33-36). Calypso’s attempts to make Odysseus her husband are in vain, but she manages to expose Odysseus’s immoral behavior demonstrating that he is susceptible to her feminine charms. During his stay on Ogygia, he displays these human-like tendencies and weaknesses: “Though he fought…

My husband was in radio for many years and I witnessed how people like to follow radio personalities first-hand. We would be in the grocery store and someone would recognize him and get all giddy. I found this interesting. He wasn't even working for a large radio, but a small-town station. His biggest followers were prisoners. They would write fan mail. With this in mind, I believe that it is easy for the media to sway large numbers of people to believe what they want them to believe. After all, radio stations survive on persuasion of commercials. If commercials didn't work they wouldn't advertise. Howard Stern is a great example on how people become followers of the media. He had such a…

People are entitled to one of the rights listed in the first amendment, the freedom of speech. It’s true that some people are hateful but even if we don’t like, agree, or even joke about it we don’t have the right to control them. People are unable to express their thoughts and feelings because they do not want to offend others.…

One shocking example of the prejudice we found in this children’s show was an African American cartoon character depicted as uneducated and easily manipulated, while the Caucasian cartoon character was represented as superior and intellectual in comparison. Prohibiting the ability to use prejudice as a humorous technique is a major change that could reduce problems involving racial prejudice in society. If media stops portraying prejudice outlooks as amusing, individuals and especially children can take these problems more seriously. Furthermore, to reduce prejudice in society their needs to be a change in the music transmitted through the radio. Today’s famous music producers write lyrics expressing their prejudice beliefs against specific genders, races, politicians, government employee’s excreta and everyone listening to the radio is exposed to this. Prejudice lyrics have become socially acceptable and customary; potentially promoting prejudice beliefs while also desensitizes people to prejudice language. When lyrics containing prejudice content are promoted constantly, people become less sensitive to the problem and begin viewing it as…

In the debate over censorship of hate speech on college campuses, the opponents conclude that colleges should censor hate speech on campus because minorities have the civil right to equal enjoyment of education, free of harassment. On the other side of the debate, the supporters conclude that we should not censor hate speech on campus because students have a right to academic freedom. In this essay I will conclude that colleges should not censor hate speech.…

In today's society many hate crimes are not reported to the police, though we hear them more often than before. The most reported hate crimes are based on race. Although their are many other motives of hate crime race is the predominate. A hate crime should be taken seriously because if it's not taken seriously it makes it much easier for other criminals to commit these types of crimes because the punishment isn't severe. Media since it is a large gateway of information, should take initiative to promote diversity or inform viewers that hate crimes are at an all time…

Unlike millions of Americans, I do not listen to Rush Limbaugh on the radio. One reason for that is that I am usually at the movies when he's on the air -- an alternative I urge on his listeners. Limbaugh does offend me when I monitor him, because he has cheapened political discourse in this country with his canned slogans and cheap shots. Once you call a feminist a ''feminazi,'' what else is there to say about feminism?…
