Research Paper On Isaiah 7-9
Isaiah 7-9 is a popular passage that goes through a few phases of Israel's condition amongst the Syrians and Philistines and also goes through the Messianic prophecy of the Birth of Christ. How do we know this is Christ? Mainly because there are many prophecies that he has fulfilled, and this passage just has three of them. In the Beginning of Chapter 7, Isaiah is recording the plot that the King of Syria and the King of Israel has against Jerusalem. At this time in history, Jerusalem is in the Hands of Judah. Judah is ruled by Ahaz, who is the grandson of Uzziah. King Uzziah was one of the Kings in the genealogies of Christ in Matthew, who also was in reign during the great Earthquake of Judah. Israel is divided into two kingdoms at this point, and Jerusalem was under Ahaz's control in Judah. …show more content…
When Ahaz heard this, his people were afraid and God used Isaiah to foretell these people that this would not take place. Isaiah talks to Ahaz and Ahaz hears from the lord. Ahaz is also told of the birth of Christ in Isaiah 7:14-16 reading, “Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel.” We can tell that this prophecy speaks to Jesus because of the prophecy being fulfilled in Matthew 1:22-23. Throughout the rest of this Chapter God is describing the land in which he is born. Then in Chapter 8, Isaiah is told to go unto a Prophetess and have her give birth to a son named “MaherShalalHashBaz.” Why is this important? Because God then spoke to Isaiah again telling him before his son is born, Israel will suffer unto Assyria for their rebellion. God hides his face from Israel and waits for his disciples to return to him out of Hoy fear and Reverence. God also tells Isaiah that they will stumble in the darkness of this world because of their disobedience to

Isaiah’s contribution to the development and expression of Judaism was heavily influenced by the political and religious context of his time. In the midst of political and religious instability in Judah’s history, Isaiah, was a recognisable source of hope and guidance, and paved the way for the expression of modern Judaism. The evident political and religious instability, was to be vastly influenced by Isaiah’s works. Isaiah took an active role in the development and expression of Judaism in his time, through his influence in the guidance of the aristocracy, providing guidance even for the kings. “Then the word of the LORD came to Isaiah: Go and tell Hezekiah… ‘I have heard your prayers and seen your tears… I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria” (Isaiah 38:4-6) Isaiah, as the mediator between God and his people, forespoke guidance both politically and religiously, redirecting the Jews back to Mosaic Law. As a result, Isaiah instilled within the hearts of Jews faith in God, in a time of suffering and religious apathy.…

Walter Kaiser warns against using the New Testament to reinterpret passages of the Old Testament while discounting the meaning of the original author. Kaiser states that the meaning established by the original author is important and to ignore it “is to make nonsense out of the revelation…” He does acknowledge, however, that while the author may not have a sense of writing prophetically, the Holy Spirit promulgates the underlying theme of the “Promise”. This approach provides a basic framework with which this passage may be viewed.…

Througout Isaiah, we are shown a people who are so busy willingly chasing after the flashy lures of sin that they could not look up, to the goodness and glory of God. Sin blinded and and bound the people, and they refused to be made well. It can be hard to understand how Israel could be set so stubbornley in their rebellion.…

In the passage 1 Samuel 17, it explains that David had trust in God. He went into battle without armor and just a single stone. This represents that God is always with us wherever we go. We have to have more introverted trust in what God does in us and we don’t just need armor or a weapon because God is our shield. David was just a shepherd, but when he went to deliver food, it was just a stalemate. No one would battle the giant so he told his brothers and David as the extrovert he was said, “What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine and removes this disgrace from Israel? Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the living God?” (1 Samuel 17:26)…

Salvation in the book of Isaiah comes in many forms. Salvation is referenced in deliverance, in this case from the Assyrians. Also, salvation is personal (“my salvation,” 12:2; “the Lord will save me,”38:20). “Since Isaiah’s idea of salvation connected with the concepts of redemption, deliverance, righteousness, and justice, it is necessary to take up these ideas also to get a complete picture of what the prophet meant by the words “save”, “savior”, and “salvation” (Old Testament Survey pg 384).…
