Recess is something that i had every day growing up in elementary school. Recess is like a play time outside. That is the only other word i can think of to describe it is playtime. At my elementary school we actually had two separate recesses. One in the morning and one in the afternoon. The first recess was right after breakfast. Before second recess, we had lunch.…
School Board discussed Thursday night around 7:00 p.m. of ongoing Elementary School cleanup and several other concerns.…
On the night of November 8, 2010 the Cy-Fairs Board of Education members led by Dr.John Olgletree started out with the accomplishments of their schools athletics, art, dance, and literacy accomplishment thus far. From there they took a vote on whose name should represent one of the new schools that was in the process of being built in the Cy- Fair district. The former teacher Cheryl Salyards was in the running for her name to be on the school. Of the seven board members four of them voted for Cheryl Salyards. A teacher who had taught hearing impaired student for the past thirty-two years. I really thought that was the most interesting part of the meeting because I never knew how the school’s names were selected.…
In an early years setting, it is essential that a practitioner supports the children’s play, learning and development because this will then enable certain learning goals to be achieved in relation to the early year’s foundation stage framework for development. These learning goals that the practitioner will help to support the children develop will have an overall effect on how they are able to learn and behave later in life. Also, by the practitioner helping to support each child, any disabilities (physical or mental) will be noticed and supported much earlier on in the child’s life which will make things easier for them as they will have a stronger support system put in place.…

“Five years ago juveniles were being tried for shoplifting, now we have murders, breaking out car windows … it all ties into gang activity. Six to eight months ago, a juvenile I represented said he wanted to be in a gang, so he robbed an elderly woman.” Juveniles should be convicted as adults for violent crimes because when they commit a crime and don't get caught or have any consequences after, they are basically walking around our streets with no one to notice they are criminals. If they did it once, they can do it again and get away with it. A crime is a crime no matter what the age of the criminal, they need to be punished.…
Many may think we are born to be sociable or how to understand our emotions. But to be honest we are not. As early as infancy in it vital for child care teachers to groomed infants to socialize with others. Lack of social skills infants can grow up to live a lonely life in adulthood. This is the same for emotions if infants are not taught to deal with their emotions at an early age they can live a life of confusion. Infants need opportunities to develop a sense of self, a sense of self, with others, and a sense of self-regulation. When developing a sense of self-regulation infants begin to respond nonverbally and with vocalizations to acknowledge that they see an image of themselves. Teachers can place unbreakable mirrors on the ground or low enough on a wall that the infant can see it…
The goal of this paper assignment is to relate naturalistic observations of young children to the principles, frameworks, and research you are studying. 1. Select one of the following questions for your observation. A) How effectively do younger and older toddlers communicate with each other and with adults (e.g., teachers, parents, etc)? It is very important for adults who are responsible for children in there formative years to know this. Children are influenced by everything they see. Adults should also be aware of the years in which they have the skills able to identify and do what they see. Children do not all develop at the same rate; therefore, making it harder to identify this stage of life. Children are more influenced by people that they respect a lot, like parents, than they are by people they just know, babysitter.…
Early childhood education programs provide parents with an opportunity, the opportunity to give their child a head start in social, cognitive, and motor development. This head start can prepare a child for kindergarten and the future grade levels. According to the National Academy Press (2000) children come into the world eager to learn; the first five years of life are a time of enormous growth of linguistic, conceptual, social, emotional, and motor competence. This essay will address questions that support early childhood education programs, such as discussing the trend, research, and analysis which supports the programs.…
I observed an 11 year old male. His interactions with his friends were at first artificial and he paid more attention to me observing him and writing than his friends. However after 10-15 minutes I was forgotten, and he was fully engaged with other boys his age. They stayed in a group and played mostly with the same sex. A few adolescent girls came and the group of boys stopped playing their basketball game and conversed with the girls for a few moments and went back to playing their game. I found that interesting that with the girls there this age group is still more interested in playing than socializing. About 30 minutes into the game and they began playing games on their cell phones(which they all had?!?). From observing this stage of adolescence I can still see alot of the middle childhood stage.…
Our children are so important and the idea that our schools don’t see that is a scary thought. Recess has been a way to allow our kids to connect with others socially, build new bonds through similar interest, exercise, and refresh after sitting in a stuffy classroom for so long. Students need recess because just like our muscles need rest time to build after a workout, so do our brains. If we are constantly cramming information in, our brain will become over worked and we will start to experience major health problems in our kids. It is even worse now a day because we have technology to battle with. Students are learning that play time is on an IPad or cell phone. They are losing a very valuable and influential time in their lives.…
Middle school was really weird time for me. It seemed like it was the most dramatic / drama filled. Our school at St. Peters was messed up, anything that could happen did. I've had teacher come up to me and ask for answers to what happened. Students doing bad things and etc. Also middle school to me was so fun, because people who I like got in trouble because of me. If you weren't my friend at St. Peters you better hope that you weren't mean to me, because if you were the teachers would find out what you did and they get in trouble.…
What do you do at recess? Do you ever not wear the appropriate shoes to play and just sit there during recess? Would you rather be on your phone? I don’t know about you, but at recess, I don’t always wear the correct shoes to play so i’m stuck sitting there all recess or I don’t feel like playing four square or basketball so I just sit. Sometimes my friends go and play or don’t want to sit with me so I’m stuck sitting there alone. Would having your phone fix this? In my opinion, I think it would be more beneficial for the students because recess is a student’s only free time during the school day. I think that at recess, students should be able do what they want as long as it is appropriate and necessary.…
I was sitting at the red bench in the rotunda at the edge of the playground in Etoile Elementary. I remember laughing and squealing and shouting. Swings creaking and gravel crunching. The air in Leve was hot and sticky.…
