Research Paper On Mars
Ray Bradbury once said "Its not going to do any good to land on Mars if we're stupid." There are many people who would love to go to Mars. However, going to Mars may not be the best idea. NASA should not send a manned mission to Mars. There will be many astronauts who die on the trip to Mars. Also, the cost for the trip is very high.
NASA should not send a manned mission to Mars because there is a chance that many of the astronauts will die. Mary Bowerman on the usatoday.com website said "An MIT analysis of the Mars one claim that humans can successfully sustain life on Mars found that people could start dying from oxygen related issues as early as 68 days."(Bowerman) It would be hard to make sure that all the astronauts have enough oxygen wherever they go. If something were to happen and there was a leak in one of the astronauts suits or where they were staying, they would die. It would be hard to get supplies to the astronauts. Loren Grush says on popsci.com "… any resupply mission to Martian habitat would take months or years to complete..." Since it takes quite a long time for supplies to get to Mars, there could be a chance that the astronauts will starve or get dehydrated and die. Unless they are good at farming on another planet, it will be difficult for them to get food

Mary Bowerman on usatoday.com says "The group estimates that putting the first four people on Mars will cost $6 billion." Just putting four people on Mars will cost six billion dollars. That is very expensive for only four people. Also, six billion dollars might not be enough money. Kelly Dickerson said on businessinsider.com " A manned mission to Mars could probably become a reality with a budget of somewhere between $80 billion and $100 billion." $6 billion already seems pretty expensive, so adding at least $76 billion is way to much money. However, there are people that think going to Mars is a good

As humans we are very curious. We have explored and conquered all around Planet Earth. It's only been a matter of time before we move onto bigger and better things. Mars may seem like it is too far away or too complicated to try and accomplish, but with the technology changing every day we are closer than ever to reach the red planet. Colonizing Mars can happen if we get water, learn how to grow food, obtain oxygen, and get the materials needed survive.…

Your progress across the barren desert toward the compound that houses the plants you and your companions need to survive is slow but by now, four months into your new life, you have become used to it. Just eleven months ago you left Earth and started your journey toward what is now your home, the red planet of our solar system, Mars. The year is 2027 and you can’t believe you arrived here at last.…

We can solve world issues like world hunger and overcrowding by growing crops and moving people out into our solar system. We can bring a whole new industry of trade. We can build infrastructure and technologies with these resources that are literally beyond imagination. Millions of job opportunities can be opened up, from a space janitor to a commander of a spacecraft. Anyone's dreams and aspirations can really come true. We can create a solid backup of the human race on a different planet. We have been coming up with plans to go to mars for 65 years. The plans are around. The research has been done. We can do it, we just need to go. We can send all the rovers and drones that we want to the red planet. But what a rover can do in its entire lifetime can be accomplished by a human in one single day. Rovers have only scratched the surface humans can explore so much more. To go to mars it takes all of us. Every race, religion, country, and creed. We unite to achieve anything we can unite together and reach mars. Going to the moon united us all and inspired a generation at a time of worry and anguish. Going to mars will do the same. Impossible is a word humans use far too often, Mars is certainly not…

Our economy is the worst it’s been since the Great Depression, why are we even considering funding NASA 17.6 billion dollars when we have big problems here?! Barack Obama, our soon to be President, agrees. We elected him so he must be doing something right with the changes he wants to make. Millions of Americans die from preventable diseases all because they don’t have healthcare, and millions more go to bed hungry at night because they can’t afford to eat. If we took that 17 billion dollars and used to help people get health insurance at least our world would be a better place. Also, global warming & issues like that are happening. If those NASA scientists used their knowledge to figure out a way to better help the earth instead of space, we’d be so much better off.…

The article The Martian Chroniclers a new era of planetary exploration by Burkhard Bilger discusses Earth and Mars known as the “Goldilocks Planets,” this is because Earth and Mars both have the perfect environment for life to be sustained. I was first observed that Mars had evidence that it could sustain life in 1877, by the astronomer Giovanni Schiaparelli. Schiaparelli drew a map of mars as an “earthly paradise.” This was because he observed that the planet had what appeared to be continents and water channels on the surface. Although, it was discovered that Mars has less water contents then earth’s driest desert. Nevertheless, because of Mar’s atmosphere and geological environment Mars has the possibly that it can sustain life. NASA has sent many space crafts to explore what is on Mars the first was the Mariner 9 then, Viking 1 and Viking 2, the…

All of the planets in our solar system with the exception of Earth are named after Roman Gods Mercury is the god of travel and thievery in Roman mythology. The planet is probably named after this god because it moves quickly across the sky. Venus is the Roman goddess of love and beauty. Venus is undoubtedly named after her because it makes a beautiful sight in the sky. Earth is the only planet whose English name does not come from Greek/Roman mythology. Mars is the Roman god of War. The planet probably got this name due to its red color. Jupiter is the King of the Gods in Roman mythology, making the name a good choice for what is, by far the largest planet in our solar system. Saturn is the Roman god of agriculture. Uranus is the ancient Greek god of the Heavens, the earliest supreme god.…

    Colonize Mars Essay

Dr. Stephen Petranek said, ”Some of the greatest advantages in civilization and technology, came because we explored.” Humans should not colonize Mars. If humans colonized Mars, humans would barely be able to survive. Mars lacks two very crucial products to survive, food and oxygen. Humans of the future would not benefit with colonizing Mars because humans who go to Mars, will have a risky voyage, there is not oxygen, and it will cost a lot of money to arrive on Mars.…

Some specific narrow segments such as medical and other technical fields have returns several hundred times the dollars invested. In fact, one bit of research I found said that the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) had to refute some of very high returns because at the time they could not do the computer work to determine an effective multiplier with so many variables leading to such high outcomes. Overall, the return was probably more modest, perhaps four to seven dollars returned to the taxpayers for each dollar invested. This return outperformed the other investments as well, though in many ways my project was like trying to compare apples and oranges. However, I can accurately report that manned space exploration has the potential to return to the taxpayer many times the dollars initially spent on the program. Since we spend this money right here, employing our own people to do cutting-edge as well as traditional workforce projects, our people and our nation benefits from the manned space program. This means we build wealth for our nation and our people. Equally important, we inspire millions of school children to do the hard schoolwork in math, business, science, engineering, and finance so they can work in space and related scientific and technical fields. This is important to us all as these disciplines are needed to lead…

It is very important to learn about these risks, incase of an emergency. I think our scientists should study more about the environmental impact on people.…

What does a planet need to have in order to support life? Earth is unique in our solar system because it is the only planet that is supporting life. Some scientists go so far as to say that the Earth is a “perfect planet” because it has features that are the perfect environment for living organisms; these features include our atmosphere, water, and a single moon. Earth is also in a place in our solar system where the Sun gives off the right amount of energy to drive the life. The distance from the Earth to the Sun determines how much of that heat we receive. If it weren’t for our ozone layer and Earth’s magnetic field, harmful rays would penetrate our surface and life would be exterminated. Everything the Earth has to offer us is balanced perfectly to keep life continuous.…
