NASA should not send a manned mission to Mars because there is a chance that many of the astronauts will die. Mary Bowerman on the usatoday.com website said "An MIT analysis of the Mars one claim that humans can successfully sustain life on Mars found that people could start dying from oxygen related issues as early as 68 days."(Bowerman) It would be hard to make sure that all the astronauts have enough oxygen wherever they go. If something were to happen and there was a leak in one of the astronauts suits or where they were staying, they would die. It would be hard to get supplies to the astronauts. Loren Grush says on popsci.com "… any resupply mission to Martian habitat would take months or years to complete..." Since it takes quite a long time for supplies to get to Mars, there could be a chance that the astronauts will starve or get dehydrated and die. Mary Bowerman on usatoday.com says "The group estimates that putting the first four people on Mars will cost $6 billion." Just putting four people on Mars will cost six billion dollars. That is very expensive for only four people. Also, six billion dollars might not be enough money. Kelly Dickerson said on businessinsider.com " A manned mission to Mars could probably become a reality with a budget of somewhere between $80 billion and $100 billion." $6 billion already seems pretty expensive, so adding at least $76 billion is way to much money. However, there are people that think going to Mars is a good
