The Mayan civilization was certainly a unique civilization, which originated in Yucatán. The civilization started around 2600 B.C. , in which is located in Mexico, Guatemala in modern times. The Mayans were very special, the Mayans were in advance, they were also religious, skilled, and they were very skilled farmers. There civilization fell in a jaw-dropping way. The Mayan civilization was very advanced, they did many things of science and math. They did things such as making pyramids, temples, palaces, and observatories. Their advancement was that they didn't have any advanced tools as we do today. They created calendars to tell the time which was very advanced, the calendar was shaped like a clock and have a different style than the calendars
today. They also had hieroglyphic writings in order to communicate but still today we need to uncover the next level hieroglyphics in their language. They're writing system was made up of 800 glyphics the wrote onto codices, codices where books that were folded like an accordion. They chiseled the glyphics into stone and these writings usually contained information about history, medicine, astronomy, and their religion.
The Mayan religion was truly different as today's religion, they were a polytheistic culture in which means, they believe in many gods. They worship gods that have to do with nature, for instance they worship Itzamná the God of fire. The unforgettable thing about the Mayan religion is that they believed in human sacrifice.
