Research Paper On Reifschneider's World
The Reifschneider’s World In my Grill and Grape world everything is backwards, specifically job responsibilities. At Reifschneider’s, there are many job titles, at the moment, I am an expo. I am only an expo because I can not be a server until I turn 18. I still want to be a server, mainly because servers get paid $4.80 an hour plus tips made from their tables. An expo only receives $8.25 an hour with no tips. Throughout a typical night, as an expo, I stand in the kitchen reading food tickets, preparing plates, and run the food to the tables. A server’s night includes taking orders, entering them into the computer, and keeping the customers happy. Easily, the most annoying difference is that expo’s sweat their butts off in the kitchen

In 1965, David Reimer, an 8-month-old Canadian twin brother to Brian Reimer, was a victim of unethical psychiatric practices that lead us to understand Nature Vs. Nurture, and how both aid in the development of adulthood. Dr. John Money was first introduced to David, when physicians used an electro cautery needle instead of standard scalpel, which lead to the burning off of his reproductive organ. According to Intersex Society of North America “David’s parents agreed to have him “sex reassigned” and made into a girl via surgical, hormonal, and psychological treatments—i.e., via the system Money advocated for intersex children.” This approach has then provided the perspective in which modern countries use to assume that gender identity is…

Managers see People as robots. At first, one can argue that these unskilled entry level jobs are easy, but after working at one, it changed my attitude towards life. It was not so much the busy environment or physical labor that was particularly hard; it was the mental and emotional stress that affected me as an individual. The relationships of managers towards the employees, thus no matter how hard people are working, created very hesitant working environment. With having to do twenty things at a time, it is very mentally draining. Since one of the main priorities was to save labor and not to cut into the profits, people were required to do multiple positions at a time. I remember how insane it was to be an order taker and cashier at the same time during the dinner rush. Besides dealing with costumers, trying to hear what people are ordering through the intercom, and ringing up the order, I had to follow the standard guidelines of greeting, confirming the order, asking for drinks, and saying “Please pull to the window”. While at the same time, I had to greet the customer at the window, say the total, collect the money, ask for sauce, check the items in the bag, tell the customer what’s in the bag, and then “please come again”. After such experience, I do not know how anyone would not attend school to obtain at least some education. Therefore, working there drained all the energy out of me and made me very moody and sensitive because I was always tired. At the end of every shift, I just wanted to come home and hide in the closet while crying myself to sleep because of mental exhaustion. My experience, as a former Taco Bell employee, is a perfect example of capitalism and how it alienates people from the product, self, process and the…

It was three months before he was born, his father had passed away. When Raoul was a little child he often played by himself, he did not have any friends and his time in school was not so god either. Raoul was none of the brave guys, but it doesn’t means that you can´t be it when you grew up. Raoul had a grandfather, Gustav Wallenberg who was the Swedish ambassador in Tokyo at this time, and he hoped it would be something good about Raoul and that he would become an international person. He wanted that Raoul would learn many languages and spend lots of time in other countries in the summer. He traveled to many places around the country and meet many people. He was no longer the anxious guy who did not dare so much, when he was in high school he started to go on summer courses in France. Then began Raoul changing. He spent many weeks in France to learn French, where he lived with another family where there were other young people from other different countries. What Is Reimer's Story?

Since then, Reimer’s story has been shared with thousands of researchers throughout the years. The information gathered from his lifetime has been used to advance the modern medical field. Specifically, the lessons learned from Reimer’s case can and should be considered when doctors and parents face similar situations in which infants are born with ambiguous gentiles. As exemplified by Reimer’s traumatic childhood and his difficult time growing up, sex reassignment surgery has not proven to alleviate the problems of people with ambiguous gentiles. Instead, sex reassignment surgery for infants causes more problems throughout their developing lifespan. This seems to be true for not only the individual personally, but the negative consequences…

Being part of the service industry can be a very non-rewarding job. Many people do not understand the preparation that takes place to provide good service. Usually before a restaurant opens the staff is there polishing and wrapping silverware, filling ice machines, setting tables, stocking sugar and salt and pepper shakers, etc. These tasks help to make restaurants run smoothly during regular business hours. Also, customers may not realize that the salary provided to those in the service industry is minimal and not enough to support a family. Tips are seen as a necessity to survive and are very much appreciated.…

Brave New World by Aldous Huxley shows how scientific advances could and have destroyed human values. Huxley wrote Brave New World in 1932, and most of the technologies he examines in the book have, to some extent, turned into realities. He expresses the concern that society has been neglecting human-being distinction in the progression of worshipping technology. In the story there are no mothers or fathers and people are produced on a meeting line where they are classified before birth. They also use a drug called, soma, to control themselves which illustrate the lack of personal freedom. Everyone in the state world do whatever they were taught since they were growing. For example, one of the tasks they give people is sexuality which is shown as an everyday and simply entertaining activity with no emotions or feelings whatsoever. We can see an extreme loss of human values because what makes a human being is the fact that they feel, think, and choose. It is amazing how Huxley wrote this book more than 60 years ago, yet we see resemblance to it in our society today. For example, society uses different kinds of drugs to control moods if they want. Another good example could be how doctors are now producing children with particular qualities based on what their parents want and using donors' genes. A very shocking moment for me in the novel was when Linda, John's mother, was dying and the people in the state world were watching and laughing at it. Today we see a lot of people who don't respect their parents and people who enjoy the suffering of others. What has society gone to? How would you feel to be in a twisted world where we are produced in factories? How would you feel to be in a world where there are no such things as freedom or ethics? I think society is close to get there and it's sad because all our feelings, thoughts, and values make the meaning and beauty of life.…

    Tipping Speech

No matter how different people may be there is one thing everyone in this room, and everyone and the world has in common. Food. We all eat it, we all love it and I don’t know about you guys but mealtime is easily one of my favorite parts of the day. But how often do we think about the people who serve us our food? Servers in Texas are only paid $2.13 an hour before tips and according to the Wall Street Journal and even with tips many servers end up making below minimum wage. I’m credible on this topic because I’ve worked in several restaurants and I’ve seen how many people almost completely rely on tips as their source of income. Tipping is relevant to you guys because everyone here has eaten in a restaurant and because most likely some of you guys have also had the pleasure of working in a restaurant. There are two solutions I propose to this problem, one everyone could make an effort to give their servers a good tip of around 20% if they receive good service, and also Texas could increase the amount that waiters and waitresses get paid per hour.…

The late 1600s bridged a time in the New World where religion was highly valued and superstitions, established from a previous time, ran rampant. Over several centuries ago, from the 1300s-1600s, England was experiencing its own type of witchcraft craze as it went through the process of executing thousands of people for their supposed misdeeds. After putting into place, appealing, reformatting and reenacting various acts all of which, in their own manner, banned supernatural acts and resulted in the death of many, England had finally seemed to move past this elongated obsession, just in time to pass it onto their fellow Englishmen in the New World. Due to the past exposures of hysteria and the already traumatic events occurring in the area,…

The job of a server is more difficult than most people think. Many Americans love to dine at restaurants whether it’s to celebrate a special occasion, or just to save them the trouble of cooking dinner at home. Waiting tables is an art form requiring skill, mental focus, charm and smarts. I have been a server at Fats Asia Bistro for about four years now and consistently notice many of my guests lack the understanding of my profession. This can result in mediocre tips or frustrated guests. The process of being a server has more to it than most people think. There are many steps, however, the four most important are:…
